• 3. Comments to Question 1: Would you like to see the library offer eBooks?

I would never use one.

i dont own an ireader now but will purchase one if the library offers ebooks

I would like to be able to check out the electronic reader (Kindle)

I would like to see the money devoted to other uses. The electronic readers are expensive and, I believe, too fragile for lending in a public library. Use the money to make more electronic rescorces available instead. Thanks

Please, please

yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I read about half of my books as eBooks.

Only if you offer the readers as well.

I am tied to a computer all day, I want to enjoy paper books that are easier on the eyes in the evening.

You could probably assess a small electronic fee for this service

if they are easy to use

I would buy something to use ebooks! I think it is a great technology to see the library start to offer!

if they don't work with a macintosh, they are useless

I would have choose several of the options below, but had to only could select my 'top' choice.

Spend $ on regular books.

I would only be interested if they were available for multiple formats, not just an e-reader. (could be used on computers in general)

I don't have enough money to buy one of the readers now. If you buy eBooks, will you buy fewer copies of popular authors' books.

 • 4. Comments to Question 1: Would you like to see the library offer eBooks?

Especially all formats including PDF

The survey only allows you to pick one type of fiction. I would read more than one.

yes, but I think a small collection would be best to start. Maybe 30 titles

I would like to see the ACPL offer the eBooks as content one could download into their own reader, but not the actual readers. You'll kill yourself with overhead, tech support and other issues if you try to do this.

It's VERY convenient; no waiting.

I prefer regular paper books.

It would be cool.

But not at the expense of print and audio books.

I don't own an e-book reader, so I wouldn't see any benefit from this format.

I would rather you spend the money on childrens' programs, more staff to staff the check out area, and allowing more items to be placed on hold.

I would like to see ePUB eBooks, as these should work with the most readers possible.

Books I want to read someday list would be nice. Being notifed that a favorite author release a book and is now available might be nice.

but we don't have a kindle.

Want to get a B&N Nook but need to be able to get ebooks from library first!

only if you continue to offer books on CD!

Need download types to allow multiple picks. I would have picked: Mystery Sci/Fi Christian Fiction

Got no Internet except at the library, so it would kind of defeat the purpose! : ) I'm 36 and technologically "over the hill." I bet the young hipsters would love it though, so more power to ya.

Yes, I would love it. As a matter of fact I have been considering getting the PLAC card so I could access other Indiana libaries.

Eventually! Currently, I think the technology is too new and will change - as may the format. Reconsider in 2 - 3 years.

 • 5.

I've given 2 gifts this Christmas and if one is received, I would love to have e-books available!!

Paper books are just fine.

The ebooks will be a good way for the library to save money and possible offer more books, but like myself, many library users do not have a way of listening to the ebooks. I beleive a system needs to be developed to accommodate all library users

Eventually yes, but right now the technology seems to be too diverse, like the beginnings of taped films--Beta vs. VHS. Which technology do you choose? The library might end up with lots of e-books that were simply no longer usable. With a tight budget, it doesn't make sense either to cover all the bases or to just choose one brand that might be obsolete. So, eventually "yes"; at this time, "no".I think if sales of these devices are rising, then it would be a nice resource. I'm still not ready to read a book off a machine, I prefer a hard copy of my material :o)

I would love this!!

I have cut back on the books I check out because I love my Kindle so much!

For multiple readers and the ability to read the book on the library's website or download the book to my computer for reading with Microsoft Reader

Only if they are for school/work purposes. I am against the purchase of novels, etc. for our library at this time.

Make sure to give warnings before charging people for overdue books. I payed an insanely high price for books not even told were due!! >:-(

this survey needs to let us pick more than 1 option!, I'd do fic/non-fic books It's a good idea, but we probably would not use that service at this time& probably not in near future.

It would be nice, but eBooks take away from what a library really is for.

thats is what i was searching for today...trying to decide to buy one for Christmas gift

Comments to Question 1: Would you like to see the library offer eBooks?
