The Tesla Roadster is an EV <ul><li>The drivetrain of the Roadster is powered solely by a lithium-ion battery , a much larger version of the same batteries in cell phones. EV’s <ul><li>EV’s are just one type of AFV, although they are the most feasible replacement of combustion engine vehicles. Power is supplied to a EV’s battery-cell from a charging station or home outlet. With no combustion engine, no fossil fuel is consumed by the vehicle. </li></ul>Youtube please.
Solar-Battery Vehicles <ul><li>Though still electricity powered, these vehicles get their energy from the only true renewable source; the sun. Unfortunately, current solar-cell arrays can’t harness enough electricity to power a standard consumer car or truck. These AFV’s only work when extreme aerodynamics and weight reduction concerns have been worked into the design of a solar car. </li></ul>Until solar-cell array technology progresses to produce a higher-yield of electricity from the sun, these types of AFV will not meet the needs of an everyday user.
CAV’s <ul><li>Compressed air is yet another type of AFV technology. Besically instead of an explosion creating the pressure to move the pistons in a car, a nozzle capable of directing intense pressures would move the crankshaft. Unfortunately, CAV’s take hours to recharge on a home compressor and can’t work in cold environments due to oxygen’s heat properties. Currently, only a few prototypes exist. </li></ul>YouTube please.
