Workshop Introduction: How to Use PDA’s in Cosmetology <ul><li>Many students do video shoots of their work on PDA’s </li></ul><ul><li>They upload and share hairstyles they create with others </li></ul><ul><li>The quality of video shot on mobile phones is phenomenal </li></ul><ul><li>Most students use some type of PDA </li></ul><ul><li>Very easy to share with others in public forums </li></ul><ul><li>Apps are already on these tools for uploading </li></ul><ul><li>All have cameras with video applications </li></ul>

Workshop <ul><li>Demonstrate to cosmetology teachers how to video shoot hairstyles using PDA’s </li></ul><ul><li>How to use, and incorporate PDA’s that students already have </li></ul><ul><li>How to video shoot students work in process as they create hairstyles </li></ul><ul><li>How to upload videos using PDA’s on YouTube apps, that is already embedded on the PDA’s </li></ul><ul><li>Laptop computers will be used also in workshop, for downloading videos in public forums </li></ul><ul><li>How to locate definitions on PDA’s for anatomy, chemistry, and electricity for cosmetology </li></ul><ul><li>Link to Needs Assessment Survey: </li></ul><ul><li>http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/W8S2MZJ </li></ul>

Goals and Measurable Objectives for Cosmetology Teachers <ul><li>Xxx Beauty Institute teachers to attend an annual professional development class </li></ul><ul><li>Goal: </li></ul><ul><li>40 hours of professional development using PDA technology </li></ul><ul><li>Objective: </li></ul><ul><li>Instructors must sign in for attendance to receive this instruction </li></ul><ul><li>Benchmark: </li></ul><ul><li>Instructors to attend class on technology for teaching twice a year </li></ul><ul><li>Evaluation: </li></ul><ul><li>All instructors certification of attendance turned in to administration </li></ul>

Teacher Training to Improve Student Learning in Cosmetology <ul><li>Laptop computers and smart phones are regular technological tools in the teaching environment. </li></ul><ul><li>The percentage of students passing the state board examination will increase by 10% </li></ul><ul><li>From the 2011 to 2012 baseline period for a total of 85%, passing the examination. </li></ul><ul><li>With the curriculum aligned with technology this percentage could increase to 96%. </li></ul>
