February 2011 Mozambique Update

  1. 1. Three years ago, the park’s sad history and challenges dominated conversation. Today,<br />as the park goes from strength to strength, the future is bright.<br />

  4. 4. In an age of “me too” luxuries, Explore Gorongosa gets it right with simple, traditional<br />mobile camping safari experience.<br />
  5. 5. Rob and Jos, the passion behind Explore Gorongosa, the first private tourism initiative<br />in this park. Going into it’s third season, Explore Gorongosa is established and the <br />feedback has been great. <br />
  6. 6. 2011 rates from US$440 per person per night sharing. Camp currently accommodates <br />10, capacity will increase to 12 in July 2011.<br />

One night free special: From the 1st April – 15th July and from the 1st September <br />– 30th November, we have a stay for 5 nights, pay for 4 nights special. <br />Family special: From the 1st April – 15th July and from the 1st September – 30th <br />November, parents pay full rates, 1st child pays 75%, 2nd child pays 50%, 3rd child <br />pays 75%, 4th child pays 50%. If any child or adult wishes to have a single tent, <br />the usual 50% single supplement applies. <br />Minimum of 5 nights required. This special cannot be used <br />in conjunction with the free night special. <br />
  8. 8. Now in it’s second season, Coral Lodge 15.41 has launched extensive kids activities.<br />
  9. 9. Further, Coral Lodge 15.41 offers one of the most unique cultural experiences in Africa.<br />
  10. 10. The two Cabaceiras – Cabaceira Grande and Cabaceira Pequena – as the villages on the <br />peninsulas are called, are beautiful and untouched. Also, these areas were once <br />important outposts for the likes of Vaso Da Gama. These cities, steeped in history, <br />enjoyed their “golden age” in the 17th and 18th centuries. <br />
  11. 11. The people here have lived in complete isolation for nearly 100 years. This isolation has<br />sheltered them from HIV and Civil War, but also made it very hard for them to advance. <br />
