    This is great resource, thanks for sharing, it makes me to get engaged in web 2.0 within one hour, it almost covered everything on web 2.0. I wonder who made this? whom I shoudl thanks to?

      • loose collection of many tools seen/used as alt. to an LMS
    • Concierge Learning (Curtis Bonk)
      • “ Concierges ...show you things you did not know were available or possible...teachers as tour guides”
    • Cool if: you take tools & run...play, use them to share with each other what you’re doing/learning
    • I use & Firefox
    • Google has family of tools...lots for personal productivity & collaboration – great place to start
    • Firefox is a better browser
      • add-ons that integrate tools I use
      • 2 words: ad blocker
    • So, you’re warned & advised: there are other tools/options out there
    • ( but you should switch to Firefox & use Google tools anyway )

    • Tip : lurk & learn...you don’t have to do all these things yourself...they enable a kind of indirect mentoring
    • Tool: delicious
    • You already bookmark... just add tags + others
      • see others’ bookmarks
      • see what the most-bookmarked sites are
      • Filter with tags (think alternative to folders)
    • Cool because...
      • Lurk & Learn: people in your field, w/shared interests
      • Create a tags for X purpose (course, topic, SIG), tag links...voila: ever-evolving resource page

      • Blogging = self-publish = forces synthesis
    • Tools: Picasa (Google tool), Flickr
      • Upload, share, tag photos
      • Picasa integrates seamlessly with Blogger
    • Tool: Slideshare
      • Upload and share presentations (powerpoint, etc)
      • No more emailing – just give ‘em the link
    • Uses :
      • Make content available, tag it for others to find
    • Wiki (Tool: PBwiki )
      • Website anyone can edit – a wide open space!
      • Create pages, set access/permissions
    • Use ?
      • Any collaborative task!
      • Team/group writing, knowledge building
      • Team/group planning, project management
        • Events (conference, wedding, group assignments)
    • FAQ: Isn’t it total chaos ? Everyone can edit!??
    • "Henry!  Our party's total chaos! 
    • No one knows when to eat, where to stand, what to ...Oh, thank God!  Here comes a Border collie!"

  8. Group conversations around images, documents, videos Great for tributes : birthday, anniversary, farewell parties! Also: collective analysis of material, gathering many perspectives, storytelling. Interesting, interactive way to support & present multiple views
    • Podcasting = p ersonal, o n d emand+casting
      • Tools: Audacity to record, gCast to publish, iTunes to access/listen (computer or ipod/mp3 player)
      • Magic: your media files + rss = people subscribe, get it automatically
      • Listen anywhere/anytime (mlearning)
    • Vodcasting ( v ideo, o n d emand)
      • Tools: webcam to record, upload to YouTube
    • A little harder to do well
    • Need audio/video capability (webcam + mic)
    • more thought to design & time to produce
    • “ YouTube teaches me more than my college classes - what’s wrong with this picture!?”
    • Uses?
      • Audio/Video personal introductions
      • Weekly updates, advance organizers
      • Some content lends itself well: demo difficult concepts, languages/terminology, storytelling, anecdotes/ & examples
      • Learners love this stuff!
    • Tips/things to think about
      • Reuse? Or “throwaway”?
      • Access? People with disabilities or slow internet
      • Resist urge to lecture for long periods – think smaller chunks
      • Not everyone is a natural, but you can learn to be effective
      • Again, lurk & learn
    • Acknowledges: teachers & formally published content aren’t THE source
    • Invites us to...
      • draw on many pieces (that we & others create) that combine to make the learning space
      • Publish & empower others to publish
      • Think about content + inter/activities
    • Create your own PLE using your browser + iGoogle – get hooked in to some of these tools

    • There is so much out there, and only some of it is good – need tools to find it (help it find us)
    • We are the web (2.0) – we create, share, connect
    • Variety & interactivity = engagement
    • Media is getting easier to produce, new tools available all the time (stay tuned, stay nimble...)
    • Lurk & Learn. Pick 1 or 2, try them out, blog/tweet about it- create your own COP!
