Everyone lives their lives in hope of some form of success.Then there are some without any hope and some who are even afraid of it.There are too many cases of people who seek success but do not get it. So for those who wonder and have questions on the above facts, this presentation tries to answer them.This presentation alks about success, why you do not get it and how you can get it.It also explains the relation between Personality Development and SUCCESS.

- Hi Welcome and let us start our jorney-A journey to begin a new you!What does it mean- a new you!Why a new you?In fact, can there be new you? All questions are valid.But in order to understand the answers to the questions let us first of all try to understand you and what does it mean when one says what you are! This shall be the starting point of our journey!
- So you are a human being and as a human being what is it at the root level that you as a human definitely need-thee roots without which survival as a human being is not possible
- They are obviously food, clothing and shelter-the three things the absence of which will certainly result in death of a human being.So, as a human being assuming full rational thinking on their part a human being will strive to fulfill these basic requirement and in fact his aim would be an absence of worry on these three fronts forever! Let us assume that a human is able to do that so what next?
- For those who believe in the power of mind it obvious that once the most basic needs are satisfied a human will than move on to further aspirations and desires which he will seek to fullfill i.e he would like to live a life which is worthwhile i.e with achievements and recognition) and also it is fun i.e he should experience happiness.I am sure there will hardly be anyone who will disagree with me on this.
- This chart will show in general the spheres of life –the various sectors or the aspects of life in which a human being will constantly endeavor to bring an improvement. Now those who are in agreement with me and in realization of this will be ready to move onto the next phase of the journey which is self understanding
- Now after completing our most basic requirement of food clothes and shelter we start striving for more and increase our influence in the various spheres of life which we had seen in our previous slide. Now when set out to do so we often come across failures or not being able to achieve or sometimes the feeling of dissatisfaction,sadness and even frustations and we end up thinking we are inadequate i.e what we want to achieve is perhaps too high or tough or we think/wander what is wrong with me –we also get in the mode of self criticism -why did we tried to do that or did not do that and most –ve we get the sensation of just going thru everyday without any changes –your one hour/ day/week/month/year is no different from any other hour/ day/week/month/year we get this feeling of just floating thru life like water on a flat level
- So why do we do that? Why are we not achieveing or why are we not successful?
- It is because we do not want to change! Here it is important to understand change – Change does not mean merely changing our physical self we are talking about the change in our mind,our thought process The examples of resistance are too many we do not learn anything new after passing out college, we do not try to think of a new way of doing things after we develop one way and so many times even try to find any way of our own we just depend on what has been told to us or shown to us,we do not try to interact with any new type of person after we find we are comfortable with one type of person.Resistance to change is present in mundane routine-not willing to change toothpaste, your food habits, your tea time etc.Resistance to new things is prevalent.the primary reason is the refusal to make your mind work and the emotion generated because of that is fear or sometimes it is also percieved that change means-
- Extra work,hard work, trouble, risk of failure,pain,fear to loose something.But if you analyse the root in all these opinion or emotions is our refusal to bring our mind into action we avoid that and hence we are afraid.If we are willing to exercise our mind than we wouyld definiely like to find new things.new choices, new ways, new methods, new people and would be more willing to try them out so as to satisfy our mind.So according to me , in the end it is all a mind game.And when you are ready to accept that you will progress into the main part of your journey to start a new you!
- The main part of the journey is where we will be talking about the result of change-change to a new you- a successful you.And if we are talking about changing to a successful you than we have to first understand what is success?Why do we need success after all life is good as it is. Who is successful and how a person can be successful So what is success-A multi billion dollars in you’re a/c?The whole world recognizing and saluting you?A huge castle of your own? A country of your own?PM of your country?King of your country Is that success? Or do you think a person who wanted to get a job with let’s say uniliver will that define success for you.Or a person who wanted to get admission in harvard/oxford/IIM/IIT would that be success? Or let us say we have a person A he is 20 years old and doing his graduation he decides after graduation he will do MBA from IIM and gets admission there.While at IIM he developes a liking for a girl B and he asks her out for a date and gets a yes from her and they develop a steady relationship.A at the time of placement decides to work for ITC and they offer him the job.And then he proposes to B his girlfriend and she says yes.They get married.later he becomes father to two kids one boy one girl.Now A decides that in 5 years time he will become zonal head at ITC and would atleat have 5-6 lakh pm package.By 5 years he is able to do that so he keeps on making targets thru out life and one day he decides he will retire and settle down with B at age 65 as CEO of ITC with a package higher than the current CEO and will have atleast 20-25 cr in his a/.c and assets and both his childrens happily started on his life. In my perspective A is successful and if you agree with me than Success woul mean
- Success is a process of achievement person targets which are of important to you and these targets have to be realistic and achievable, and every achievement will be a milestone which will set the tone or the guide arrow for your next milestone to be achieved thus success has to be P R W P P G
- Now that we know what success is we ne need to ask ouselves whether we are really in need of success or should we make success the basis of life-after all life is going well as it is why do we need to work that extra hard why more strain on brain and perhaps physically also-well the answer lies in the quality of life that you want.Let me tell you that success has a direct relationship with quality and happiness of life

- And answer is ‘thru personality development’ and this development is the destination or the end point of this journey and the training to have a new you
- Let us see now what is personality and what do we mean by its development
- From the definition of personality in simple words means to say personality is the sum totality of a behavior –the total impact of behavior which a person has on the mind of others –this impact is made by your responses & reactions to situations and events happening around you- the impact made on the other person’s mind as a result of those responses will make that person label/categorize you into certain type/types-those types are called as personality- examples – boring, dependable, serious, fun, rude etc For our future use please keep one thing in mind from the explanation & i.e that for your personality to really have a meaning the other person has to perceive it/understand it So when we talk about development it means we are talking about growth in other words a positive movement and since personality makes an impact so the more positive impact that we will make the more positive will be our image and the more successful we are likely to be with that person hence to ensure that we are inculcating more and more positive behavior is called personality development.Behavioral expert after lots of research and studies have identified certain traits that most of successful persona have.Let’s take a look at them
- We can see that successful people are not aimless people foremost.This is the basis of rest of their behavior pattern.The desire to succeed never makes them give up hence they are positive attitude.They say yes we/I can do it.The same desires motivate them to be punctual,since and hard working.they try to find out better ways, to innovate.If team work is necessary than they ensure to be a part and also make a good team.They are also able to explain their point of view and understand other also.Thay always make an impression upon people.By my own experience I think this is quite acceptable and I recommend that to develop ourselves we should focus on these traits
- In the previous slide we were largely talking about successful traits which were related to mind but in this we are specifically talking about physical aspects of a successful person the traits which are visible and need not be perceived.This people is all about personality development but our journey is not over yet, we still have to spend some time on something which is very important, very critical when it comes to PD and i.e
