  2. 2. Democracy vs. Communism <ul><li>Hitler is gone. Germany has lost the war. But there is a new problem the United States must confront: Communism. </li></ul><ul><li>The leaders of this movement argue that the United States capitalist society will fall, and their societies will become the most influential in the world. </li></ul>

Capitalism is using its money; we socialists throw it away--Fidel Castro <ul><li>After World War II, two ideologies would change the course of history forever. </li></ul><ul><li>On one side, stood Democracy and countries like the United States and Great Britain </li></ul><ul><li>On the other side, Communists countries such as Russia and Cuba would challenge Democracy for global influence </li></ul>

  5. 6. UNITE! <ul><li>The threat made the US Government respond to threat of Communist takeover all of the world </li></ul><ul><li>Many people at the time felt that If all Communists united, Democracies like the US could fall </li></ul>
