Why we chose AWS over other grids AWS is the most complete cloud solution available 2006 - Started researching use of cloud compute to solve archive problem. Sun Grid was too expensive, required Solaris. $1 Gb, $1 CPU hour. S3 was really appealing, but compute component wasn't available in 2006. 2007 - EC2 announced. With S3 a powerful combination in the cloud. Sonian needs storage and compute in the same data center. Great brand connotation with “Amazon”. ____________________________
