With innumerable applications from students all over the world for its MBA program, it is also one of the most popular. The university follows six-point criteria for admission into its MBA program.
  3. 3. They are: • Resume • Essays • Recommendations • Academic Records (Transcripts) • Test Scores • Application Fee • Submission of Your Online Application Resume Applicants must prepare a business resume wherein they must furnish the details of their employment history in reverse chronological order.
  4. 4. These must include titles, dates, and particulars about the nature of the job i.e. whether it was full-time or part-time. The resume must also include dates of attendance and the degree that have been earned by you. Any other information that would be relevant in a business resume can also be added. The length should not be more than one page and the university provides a template for the format of the resume on their website.
  5. 5. Essays Essays are an important part of the admission procedure and provide the perfect opportunity to students to showcase their skills and abilities for endorsing their candidacy. They can narrate their personal experiences and how these help shape their professional perspective. However, the university mandates that all experiences must be from within a span of 3 years. MIT Sloan asks applicants to write two essays of 500 words each.
  6. 6. Essay 1: The first essay asks applicants to elaborate on how they would be able to contribute to the MIT Sloan’s mission of developing leaders who would better the world and enhance the efficacy of management practices with innovativeness. The applicant must substantiate their claims with examples from past working experiences and activities. Essay 2: The second essay asks students to elaborate on a time in their professional life where they went beyond their comfort zone to achieve a goal or objective.
  7. 7. In addition to these essays, applicants may also provide any extra information that they wish the admissions committee to know. Recommendations Applicants are required to submit two letters of recommendation. Those with a strong professional background and ability to articulate their achievements and potential would do well to provide professional recommendations.
  8. 8. All recommendations must be submitted online. They can either be in the form of a letter or as a short answer, but in any case must not be longer than two pages. Recommendations from family members are not admissible. Mailed recommendations would be rejected. The recommenders should be able to specifically answer the following questions:
  9. 9.  Nature and duration of the applicants’ acquaintance with the recommender  Any distinctive qualities of the applicant  Influence or impact of the applicant on a person, group, or organization.  Example of the applicants’ interactive ability with other people.  Any changes that the recommenders would like to bring into the applicants’ personal or professional characteristics.  Any additional information about the applicant.
  10. 10. Academic Records (Transcripts) MIT Sloan mandates that applicants scan and upload copies of their academic records. Any discrepancies between official transcripts and copied ones will result in rejection or withdrawal of offer of admission.
