USING 3-DIMENSIONAL MODELS,CASE STUDIES, READINGS, AND DISCUSSIONS, STUDENTS EXPLORE THE PHYSICAL ANDEVOCATIVE PROPERTIES OF SPATIAL ENCLOSURE, USING THE BASIC PALETTE OFLANDFORM, VEGETATION, AND STRUCTURES TO GIVE PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL, COGNITIVEAND SOCIAL DEFINITION TO THE PLACES WE CREATE.STUDENTS BEGIN WITH BASIC DESIGN PRINCIPLES AND EXPERIMENT WITH GEOMETRICFORM. THEY FURTHER DEVELOP THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF SPACE BY APPLYINGMETAPHOR AND MEANING AS A TOOL FOR SHAPING SPACE.
