  3. 3. The Common Agricultural policy (CAP) <ul><li>Subsidies: Farmers are given more money to grow certain crops and farm particular animals in order to increase production where there is a shortage, e.g. wheat, oil seed rape </li></ul>
  4. 4. The Common Agricultural policy (CAP) <ul><li>Grants: Farmers are given extra money to help them on major projects, which would lead to am increase in production, e.g. new buildings, purchase of machinery </li></ul>
  5. 5. The Common Agricultural policy (CAP) <ul><li>Quotas: The rates of production are controlled by giving farmers a set amount that they produce. If they exceed this quota there are penalties. </li></ul>
