  1. 1. What landforms do you find in deserts? Starter Pair up and sit down with your back to each other. Number yourselves 1 or 2 No 1 opens text book to p28 and explains a chosen landform to partner No 2 uses a pencil and piece of paper DOES NOT look at text book and must listen to commands of No 1 to draw a given landform. No 2 based on what they have drawn guesses the landscape described. Swap and repeat for another landform.

Learning Objectives <ul><li>All can identify some desert landforms and reflect on how they were formed. </li></ul><ul><li>Most can explain the processes of weathering and erosion. </li></ul><ul><li>Some can analyse how these landforms shape the landscape and characteristics of deserts. </li></ul>
  3. 3. What landforms do you find in deserts? <ul><li>And how do you think they were made? </li></ul><ul><li>Do these landforms help scientists recreate what the landscape was like thousands or millions of years ago and if so how? </li></ul>Watch ‘how earth made us’ clip!
  4. 4. Weathering and erosion in deserts <ul><li>TASKS: </li></ul><ul><li>Write definitions in your book for weathering and erosion . With examples of both and pictures if it helps you to learn them. (see p29) </li></ul><ul><li>Draw a mind map to show the processes that happen in a desert. (look at Q1 p29) </li></ul><ul><li>Draw a table or another mind map to classify the landforms of the desert into those that were created by erosion and those that were created by deposition . (see p28) </li></ul>

Learning Objectives: RECAP! <ul><li>All can describe the climatic conditions shared by all deserts and the global pattern to where deserts are found. </li></ul><ul><li>Most can explain the four types of desert using well constructed and labelled colour diagrams. </li></ul><ul><li>Some can identify which deserts of the world may fit into which of the 4 categories. </li></ul>
