  • 2. • One of the civic issues facing my community is that there are not enough community leaders. There are community newspapers that promote volunteerism but it’s still a struggle get people out to support. There is a lack of knowledge within the community concerning there own issues. • The local government needs to do a better job of relating to the citizens in as far as introducing new businesses within the community and the continuing growth of the current businesses.
  • 3. • Percentage of people that speak English not well or not at all: Brighton Park:29.4% Chicago: 9.9% • Percentage of foreign born residents: Here: 45.5% Chicago: 21.4% • Percentage of males in business and financial operations occupations: Here: 2.0% Chicago: 6.0% • Percentage of females in business and financial operations occupations: Here: 3.5% Chicago: 6.7%
  • 4. • • • • As the months have gone along I have seen difference in my way of thinking. The way the community can show change is by doing positive things within the community such as: Positive community events, Fundraisers Youth driven sports that promote local business Educational after school activities for the youth
