Presentation of Connecting.nyc Inc. at the Participatory Planning Workshop, November 13, 2009. Sponsors: Regional Planning Association and The Open Planning Project.

70 Planners gathered to think about digital tools to improve the planning process, with a particular focus on public engagement. This presentation describes the role the .nyc TLD in tagging city resources, and sought to stimulate the attendees to imagine other ways it can facilitate the planning process.

  • 3. Today .nyc is perfect, precious, delicate, and complete.
  • 4. Mathematically the algorithm indicates 253^38 names. (People discover domain names like Columbus “discovered” America.) We know all the names it will hatch.

        • Good Names
        • Technical Names
        • Programmer-Friendly Names
    • Today I’m going to address the later.
