Euro trip 2013

 1. 1.
 2. 2.

Newfound confidence and independence

Improve your grades and enhance college applications

Enhanced career prospects

Experience new cultures and explore famous sights

Have fun with your friends and make new ones

Why take an educational tour?
 3. 3.

EF has the lowest price guaranteed. More teachers choose EF than any other educational travel organization and 97% of students recommend the tours.

The itineraries are educational, featuring experiential learning and visits to the best sites. EF is also accredited, so students can earn high school credit.

A 24-hour EF Tour Director stays with our group around the clock on tour, providing insight about our destination as well as great tips.

With 45 years of experience and a worldwide presence, we are traveling with the safest and most reputable travel organization.

EF is #1 in educational travel
 4. 4.

EF has hundreds of offices in more than 50 countries.

24-hour emergency on-call service so you can reach EF day or night while your child is on tour.

Bilingual professionally trained EF Tour Director accompanies our group 24 hours a day.

EF ’ s Peace of Mind program, allows us to change our tour and/or departure date up to 35 days prior to departure.

EF is committed to your safety
 5. 5. Meet Your Chaperones

You may be selected to participate in a life-changing experience. Ms. Bol & Mr. Currier are going to carefully hand pick students that we know and trust (along with some that will be very highly recommended).

As world travelers, we want to share our love of travel with our students – and for that reason we have decided to lead this trip.

It is important that you understand that the school system has no part of this (although they have been made aware of this trip). We are two private citizens organizing an amazing adventure to Europe.

We would like to start by introducing ourselves .

 6. 6. Tom Currier

Mr. Currier has been teaching in Calvert County for 19 years. He has taught 8 different computer science courses, photography, various math classes, and world history.

He has traveled to 27 countries, including Central America, the Caribbean and Europe.

He has chaperoned an EF tour in 2004 with students from Calvert High School - two weeks traveling through Italy, France & England. In 2009, another EF tour was to Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary and Austria.

Mr. Currier is a planner, thinks a lot about the trip, and researches the trip. Because of that, his travels have been smooth and trouble free for the most part. He also organized a trip to Greece in 2007 for 22 people that lasted two weeks and covered Athens and 4 islands, and a two week tour of Ireland for 6 people that covered the entire island.

 7. 7. Vikki Bol

Ms. Bol has been teaching in Calvert County for 8 years. She has taught 4 different biology courses including HSA prep, Honors, and AP Biology. She earned National Board Certification for Science in 2010.

She has traveled to Ireland, Greece, Mexico and England. Her first international trip was as a high school student when her orchestra toured England for 8 days.

Ms. Bol is highly organized and pays attention to details. Because of this, she is a good resource when travelling. She reads about the destinations before arriving and usually has a good idea of the memorable and worthwhile places to go.

 8. 8.

What is group travel?

Groups with similar tour preferences and departure dates are combined to share a motorcoach

Why does EF combine groups?

Makes tours equally affordable for groups of 6 or 40

Low prices means more students can see the world

Allows students to meet other travelers from around the country

How does EF combine groups?

Flexible date range

Similar tour options

How does group travel work?

 19. 19.

Odds & Ends I

Recruitment!

We need to have a minimum of 24 students for the trip to run, so we need to recruit!

Fundraising – we don’t have any ideas at the moment, but if people want help and have a plan, we will be happy to help organize.

Future meetings – we plan on holding several meetings between now and then, and also will have regular updates via email and the blog http://hhseurotrip13.blogspot.com . One of the meetings will be Mr. Currier giving a lesson on how to pack efficiently as you will have to carry whatever you bring quite a distance.

How much spending money should you bring? It depends on your financial situation, but you will be responsible for purchasing your lunches, beverages, and any souvenirs you want. We would set the minimum at about $500.

Contacting us – we want you to bring all of your questions and concerns to our attention. Email contact preferred – [email_address] / Phone Ms. Bol @ HHS – 410.414.7039

 20. 20.

Odds and Ends II

• Drinking – There is a standard waiver for students who are over 18 and therefore legal in many of the European Countries. If the parents sign the waiver it does not mean the students have a free pass to go crazy – and we would hate to think that drinking would become the focus of the trip.

• Other Rules – As the chaperones on the trip, we promise to do everything we can to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip. There will be rules that will need to be adhered to; we really don’t want to have to send you home. We truly want to enjoy ourselves on this trip too!

• Because this is not a school sponsored event, your acceptance is at the discretion of Mr. Currier and Ms. Bol. If you have someone in mind that would be a good addition, please talk to us – we will listen 

• Last Note – One of the nice things about EF tours is the “shotgun” approach to travel. When we spend a day in a city, we will see just about everything there is to see – it is a sometimes grueling pace, but the experiences that you acquire are well worth it!
