A free online video streaming service that allows anyone to view and share videos  Created in February 2005  Acquired by Google in November 2006  100 million videos watched daily in July 2006  65,000 videos added per day in July 2006  75,400,000+ videos currently available  Free to both view and upload videos

Slide 6: How YouTube Works  Users upload videos to YouTube in either QuickTime, AVI, or MPEG formats  YouTube converts these into Flash FLV format  Users view videos in a web browser (must have Adobe Flash Player installed)  All videos are stored on YouTube’s servers  Streaming video, not downloading  Almost immediate video playback is possible with a broadband connection
