Nagoya University• Promotion of Sakai CLE as NUCT (Nagoya University Collaboration & Course Tools) – Started on Apr. 2010 as one of the initial trials of Sakai CLE in Japan • All operations are supported by staffs of the university – Cooperation with campus ICT systems based on single sign-on using Nagoya University ID (Jasig-CAS) • Nagoya University Portal (uPortal v3.2.1) • Learning Management System• Planned projects in 2012 – Upgrade to Sakai CLE 2.9.x – Give an award of best practice to promote Sakai CLE 2012 Jasig Sakai Conference 6
Kansai University• After a year-long parallel operation of CEAS 2 series System, the CEAS/Sakai Joint System started in April, 2011 on a campus-wide basis. (CEAS: A CMS focusing on supporting the educational activities involved in the cycle of class teaching and self-learning (preparation and review work))• Sakai tools (i. e., Forums, SCORM Player, Resources and Wiki) are combined with CEAS 3.0 taking over the Teaching-Support User Interface of the CEAS.• In AY 2012, Sakai CLE is scheduled to be upgraded to Version 2.9 (from Version 2.5.6). 2012 Jasig Sakai Conference 7
Hosei University• Production Run started on Apr. 2011 as the largest scaled Sakai CLE in Japan – 30,000 students, 8,800 instructors, 12,500 courses.• In 2012, additional projects are planned. – e-Portfolio – Sakai OSP – Video – Opencast/Matterhorn – SNS – Sakai OAE 2012 Jasig Sakai Conference 8
A local installation of Sakai 2.5 at CS Department ◦ Since 2009 ◦ Used for 4 major courses on programming and algorithms ◦ A tool for Programming education called MAX/C has been developed and used in classes ◦ More than 20 active sites, mostly for seminars and research projects 2012 Jasig Sakai Conference 9
