      • Zope is an open source application server for building content management systems , intranets, portals, and custom applications. The Zope community consists of hundreds of companies and thousands of developers all over the world, working on building the platform and Zope applications. Zope is written in Python, a highly-productive, object-oriented scripting language.
    • Plone is just one application that is designed for ZOPE.
    • Plone is open source.
    • Plone is a content management system.
    • Content management systems allow you to edit your content without having 3 rd party software.
    • Plinkit is just a custom Plone site that has been developed specifically for libraries.
    • Plinkit is the name the Oregon State Library used to market their product.
    • The Plinkit template is updated often, but once your site is created, you are responsible for updates.
    • Changes to the template in the future will not affect your site.
  • ZOPE Server Plone Plinkit
    • ZOPE & Plone by themselves are not a very fast Internet server.
    • In fact, Zope can only handle 4 requests at a time.
    • We run SQUID in front of Zope in order to speed things up.
    • The first time you request a page it goes to ZOPE. The second time SQUID remembers it.
