  3. 3. What is it? <ul><li>The Schools and Libraries Universal Service Support Mechanism better known as The E-Rate Program </li></ul><ul><li>Provides discounts to schools and libraries in the U.S. to obtain affordable telecommunications and Internet access. </li></ul>
  4. 4. Benefits? <ul><li>Schools must apply for E-Rate </li></ul><ul><li>Up to a 90% discount depending on eligibility </li></ul><ul><li>E-Rate provides the connectivity </li></ul><ul><li>Schools provide equipment and other resources needed </li></ul>
  5. 5. How is it Funded? <ul><li>Universal Service fee is charged to telecommunication companies </li></ul><ul><li>Universal Service Administrative Company administers funds </li></ul><ul><li>Funds are of the direction of the Federal Communications Commission </li></ul>
