  • UW-Milwaukee seeks to better serve our active duty military and veteran students, and hasten their progress to degree completion, by expanding the number and types of academic credit that may be awarded based on appropriate prior military training and education.   In this Phase III project UWM seeks to shift the institutional culture towards greater acceptance of awarding credit based on PLA to:
    achieve at least a 50% increase in the number of PLA credits awarded for basic military training;
    evaluate American Council on Education (ACE) recommendations for use of other types of military education and training where appropriate; and,
    offer at least 20% of enrolling military service members the opportunity to gain some additional credit for other types of military education/training beyond basic training.
