  • 2. Many of us, when we undertake our swim training fortriathlons, do not place a lot of resolve into it.We use our valued time just swimming laps without muchregard for any specific training to help make improvements.Maybe it’s about time you took a look at what your aims areand determine how you can make your time in the pool moreeffective.
  • 3. To make your triathlon swim better, first try focusing onimproving your form and efficiency, and translate thatinto swimming faster. If you have been swimming for some time now and youhave not made any improvements in speed or endurance, you should be trying something new. • 4. If you have been just swimming lots of easy laps justto get in the distance each time you train, it would betime to start to focus on speed, form and endurance. When you mix your training up this way you willstart to see improvements.
  • 5. Work some interval training into your workouts. You can do some intervals each day you work out ordedicate a day to them. The idea behind intervals is to swim faster so you canimprove your speed and improve on your endurance.Do not swim so fast that you lose your form, you wantto maintain as much efficiency as possible
  • 6. It’s good to swim for distance occasionally; the reasonis to get used to distance both mentally and physically.Maybe once a week spend time swimming as long asyour available time allows so you get the feel for longdistance.Try to maintain a good pace but not a race pace.
  • 7. Do some strength training a couple times per week.Improving your strength will not only help your swimming,it will carry over to the bike and run as well.Your schedule may already be full but try to do what youcan.
  • 8. Understanding how to make the best use of your timein the pool swim training for triathlons will make a bigdifference. The swim seems to be many peoples biggest obstacleso taking the time to overcome any issues is well worththe effort.Check out “Triathletes Swim Training” to learn moreabout tri swim workouts.
