Students are expected to be Progressing in all standards throughout the year. </li></ul><ul><li>By the end of the year students, will be expected to know all of the standards in Language Arts and Math to pass to third grade. </li></ul><ul><li>Page 5- Overhead </li></ul>Report Card
  7. 7. <ul><li>Second grade students are required to take a STAR test for the state of California sometime in May. </li></ul><ul><li>Since this is the first time students are tested in this manner we will prepare them with test prep in class and at home. </li></ul><ul><li>You will see many of these reports coming home. </li></ul>STAR Tests
  8. 8. <ul><li>Homework is given on Friday and due the following Friday. </li></ul><ul><li>Spelling words </li></ul><ul><li>Reading log- Families should read a minimum of 20 minutes each evening. The reading may be done by the students are family members. I need a volunteer to help this process. They will check out a book at their reading level each night they return the previous book. </li></ul><ul><li>Page 7 </li></ul>Library

  15. 15. UA Time <ul><li>During this time students work on assigned Language Arts activities: workbook, reading, writing, phonics, etc. These are called Must Do’s because they have to be completed. Then they are given a list of choice activities called May Do’s. These include computer, listening center, Bing-o, language arts games. </li></ul><ul><li>Practice Book </li></ul>
  16. 16. Writer’s Workshop <ul><li>During this time students take their work through the publishing process including writing, editing, publishing (typing), and illustrating. Students learn about phonics, writing, and computer skills. </li></ul><ul><li>Spiral Notebook </li></ul>
