Your Testimony

 1. 1. Your Testimony
 2. 2. Every since man has had an imagination, we have wanted to travel through time.
 3. 3. In 1895 H.G. Wells wrote a book, “The time machine”

Every since then, time machines have been a main part of science fiction stories.

 4. 4. Most experts agree that time travel will never be possible

If it would be possible in the future, surely we would have already had visitors from the future.

None have ever shown up!

 5. 5. But if you could travel back to your past, what would you change?
 6. 6. If you changed anything you would not be what you are today!
 7. 7. What I am talking about:

Your Testimony

 8. 8. Everyone of us has one.

What is yours?

 9. 9. 2 Corinthians 5:14-21

14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

 10. 10. 2 Corinthians 5:14-21

18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

 11. 11. Again we will look at this through the lens of stewardship.

You do not own your life… You belong to God.

You will give account on how you live, and what your testimony is.

The more you live for Christ, the better your testimony is for God.

 12. 12. You do not own your life… You belong to God.

2 Cor 5:14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

If you are saved, you do not live for yourself… you live for Christ.

 13. 13.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

(20) For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

 14. 14.

Your Life is Christ’s He died for it!

 15. 15. When you are in Petersburg

How do you talk? Do you talk like Christ

How do you treat others? Like Christ would?

If people think of you, do they think of Christ?

You are a reflection of Christ and this church.

 16. 16. And one day You will give account on how you live, and what your testimony is.
 17. 17. When you die, and stand before Christ, can you be able to say:

2 Timothy 4:7-8

(7) I have fought a good fight, I have finished [my] course, I have kept the faith:

(8) Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

 18. 18. Have you fought a good fight?

Do you stand for what is right no matter what others say?

When confronted with a decision, do you back up your opinions with Scripture?

Do others know that you will stand on what the Bible says?

 19. 19. How are you doing in your race?

Hebrews 12:1

(1) Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset [us], and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

 20. 20. Your race

Sin will weigh you down.

Get rid of the sin, draw closer to Christ, and the race will be easier to run.

Are you looking for the finish line?

Are you playing fair?

 21. 21. Your faith

Paul said that he kept the faith.

Are you faithful?

Can others depend on you?

Can this church depend on you?

 22. 22. One day you will give an account

What you stand for

How you live your life

And how faithful you are.

 23. 23. The third principle: The more you live for Christ, the bigger your testimony is for God.
 24. 24. This of course takes time.

But the more faithful you are in the way you deal with people, the more people trust you.

What is your reputation?

 25. 25. Something to think about:

If I were to mention your name on the streets of Petersburg, what would people say about you?

This is something we all need to think about.

We all have enemies…

But are they enemies because of something you did that you need to apologize for?

 26. 26. Jesus said:

John 15:20

(20) Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

 27. 27. He also said:

Matthew 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all [men] for my name's sake: …

Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

 28. 28. 2 types of persecution

1) persecuted for your stand with Christ.

2) persecuted for something you did wrong.

 29. 29. For example

If you get thrown into prison for worshipping God… that is persecution for Christ

If you get thrown into prison for murdering someone… well, you deserve it!

 30. 30. True persecution

Many people claim they are persecuted when they are just getting what they dished out.

They reap what they sow.

 31. 31. But if you are faithful to Christ it will show.

And it will draw others to Him.

No matter what your past is, you can still be faithful now, and in the future.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life.

God will even use your broken past.

God takes messes and makes messages of them.

 32. 32. Are you a cracked pot?

There was once a Chinese woman:

who had to get up each

morning and carry water

from a well back to her

house about a ½ mile

away

 33. 33. But she only had two pots.

One was a good one, with no cracks

One was a cracked pot

 34. 34. Each Morning

She would go get the water. But by the time she got home she would not have 2 full pots, but only 1 full one and one only ½ full.

The good pot started making fun of the cracked pot….

The cracked pot started feeling sorry for itself.

 35. 35. One day…

The cracked pot didn’t want to carry water for the old woman… afterall, it thought, she needs a better one than me… she can retire me… I can’t be used, I am not perfect.

So he told her this…

 36. 36. Her response:

“Yes, I know you have a crack, when I fill you up, I lose half of your water on the way home, but I still have a purpose for you.

You see each day for the last ten years I have appreciated your imperfection…

Look down that path… do you see something?”

 37. 37. Look at those flowers

She went on to say, “ Do you see those flowers? They are there because every morning the water that fell from you on the way back to the house, fell on those flowers… I have intentionally kept you around to water those flowers.”

 38. 38. And because of you …

What once was a boring chore, now is a beautiful path that I look forward to each morning!”

 39. 39. Are you a cracked pot?

God still has plans for you….

God doesn’t throw anyone away based on their past.

It is the here and now that matters… are you willing to let God use you?
