  4. 4. HISTORY In 1986, NTSC took initiative to get the Government of India to designate February 28 as the National Science Day which is now celebrated all over India.

  6. 6. Chandrashekhara Venkata Raman was born on November 7, 1888 in Tir uchinapalli , Tamil- Nadu. He was the second child of Chandrasekhar Iyer and Parvathi Amma.
  7. 7.  After his studies, in 1917, at the age of 29, Raman became a Professor at Calcutta university.  In 1919 Raman elected as the secretary of Indian Association for the cultivation of science
  8. 8. In 1929 the British Government knighted him; thereafter Professor Raman came to be known as Professor Sir C.V.Raman.
  9. 9. In 1930, Sir C.V. Raman was awarded with Nobel Prize in Physics for his work on scattering of light. The discovery was later christened as "Raman Effect".
