  • 1. QUANTITATIVE  ANALYSIS  FOR  BRANDING   TINK  NEWMAN  –  APRIL  14,  2013     Hafiz  Kodomo  Its  food  made  by  da  vinci...  And  it  has  promise...  As  art  is  to  cooking  just   like  math  is  to  engineering...  Essentials...   Linda  Tamara  like  the  above  comment  by  @Hafiz,  and  also  the  other  names  didn't   "speak  to  me"   Friday  at  9:33am  ·∙  Unlike  ·∙  2   Maja  Milojevic  It's  more  fun  and  creative.  Catches  my  interest  more.
  • 2.   QUALITATIVE  SUPPORT  FOR  FOODAVINCI     “My  investor  requires  a  justification  of  my  company  name  before  we  sign  papers.  I  need   to  prove  or  disprove  one  of  these  names.  Even  if  you  don't  know  what  the  company   offers:  which  name  you  gravitate  towards  or  would  recommend  to  your  family?  PLEASE   include  why  you  do  or  don't  like  the  name.  This  is  very  important  to  me.  :)     Menubend   Foodavinci”   -‐Tink     Gregg  Lu  foodavinci...       menublend  sounds  like  something  Billy  Mays  would  try  to  sell   Tink  Newman  Bend...but  I  get  it.  Lol   Gregg  Lu  oooo...  freudian  slip!  ..  makes  it  even  better     Gordon  Swenson  Menubend  or  menublend   Tink  Newman  Why?   Kyle  Nealy  Stick  with  Foodavinci.  Da  Vinci  was  known  for  innovation,  invention  and   intellect  all  of  which  your  company  aims  to  communicate  through  its  ideology  on  food.   Aaron  Ottho  Reciplace   Aaron  Ottho  Like  recipe  replacement   Tink  Newman  Kyle  Nealy,  trying  not  to  be  biased  here,  but  major  brownie  points  for   you.   Tink  Newman  Not  bad  Aaron  Ottho.  Pretty  darn  good.  You  advertising  guru.  Anyone   reading  the  thread,  Reciplace  is  up  for  vote  too.   Gregg  Lu  why  do  you  think  Foodavinci  is  an  appropriate  name?   Tink  Newman  Gordon  Swenson  why  do  you  prefer  Menubend  over  Foodavinci?  Curious.   Steve  Pollino  I  second  what  Kyle  said
  • 3. Kyle  Nealy  Love  brownie  points!  Also,  I  think  that  the  other  names  are  a  little  too  literal.   They  get  the  point  across  but  I  think  they  close  you  off  to  branding  options.  However,   I'm  not  a  marketing  guy  whats  so  ever.  That  being  said,  from  a  purely  naive  user   standpoint,  Foodavinci  seems  less  like  a  name  for  a  "fad"  websites,  it  gives  the   impression  of  a  strong  brand.  Of  course,  that  is  just  my  subjective  perspective.   Friday  at  9:37pm  via  mobile  ·∙  Unlike  ·∙  5   Tink  Newman  Awesome.   Gregg  Lu  I  think  the  name  is  interesting  enough  to  gain  a  following  and  differentiate   yourself  in  search  engines  if  people  only  remember  part  of  the  name   Friday  at  9:38pm  via  mobile  ·∙  Unlike  ·∙  2   Tink  Newman  Maybe  you're  not  a  marketing  guy  but  you're  VERY  articulate.  You  read   my  mind.   Tink  Newman  Gregg  Lu  I  think  you  have  a  good  point.  I  welcome  arguments  here   though.   Tink  Newman  Kyle  Nealy  see  two  posts  above.   Amanda  Chanimal  Foodavinci  hands  down  for  this  one.   Friday  at  10:13pm  ·∙  Unlike  ·∙  2   Tink  Newman  Awesome  but  I  need  a  reason-‐  from  the  depths  of  your  heart.     Amanda  Chanimal  Because  Foodavinci  was  from  the  depths  of  your  heart.  These  new   names  just  don't  communicate  well  from  you   Friday  at  10:14pm  ·∙  Unlike  ·∙  2   Amanda  Chanimal  Don't  second  guess  yourself...  The  Former  Tink  knew  what  she  was   doing  all  along     Tink  Newman  Thanks...the  issue  was  brought  up  because  some  people  couldn't  spell   foodavinci.  Don't  know  why-‐  if  they  knew  who  he  was...   Patrick  Bourke  I  still  see  Foodavinci  as  the  bigger  idea  of  taking  the  current  food   problem  to  the  point  of  infusing  it  with  paradigm  changing  ideas  just  as  Davinci  did  with   problems  in  his  time...  "A  flying  machine...  That's  crazy"   Friday  at  10:27pm  via  mobile  ·∙  Unlike  ·∙  3   Tink  Newman  "A  substitution  machine.  ..that's  crazy."  As  for  the  overall  vision  and   concept  of  changing  ideas,  you  nailed  it.
  • 4. Ernestine  Leonard  Newman  A  Food  Substitution  machine  and  have  a  sketch  of  his  flying   machine  to  click  on  to  start  the  process  (maybe).   Jason  Uswak  People  spell  Walmart  as  Wallmart  still.  I  think  we're  good.   Friday  at  11:09pm  via  mobile  ·∙  Unlike  ·∙  2   Aaron  Ottho  Or  reciplacement   Steven  Conklin  Both  names  will  need  branding  to  go  w/  them  to  explain  the  concept.   Foodavinci  works  and  I  agree,  don't  second  guess  yourself…   Yesterday  at  4:28am  ·∙  Like  ·∙  3   Tyler  Mosher  Foodavinci  is  flexible  as  a  brand  name  as  your  business  plan  develops  and   services  change  ...  But  the  brand  sticks.  Menubend  just  pushes  me  away.  I  am  not  akin   to  some  of  the  new  branding  names  on  the  market.  If  I  don't  understand  it  I  don't  buy  it.   A  play  on  the  word  of  mindbend  throws  me  a  curve  and  I  don't  trust  it.  A  name  such  as   Foodavinci  says  to  me  it  is  food  and  it  implies  creativity.  So  for  me  I  think  creative  food.   What  else  do  you  want???   Yesterday  at  6:23am  via  mobile  ·∙  Unlike  ·∙  3   Parag  Khare  Foodavinci  Tink.  The  name  speaks  multitudes  for  the  future  product   offering  and  will  encompass  one  solid  vision.   Aaron  Ottho  I  think  foodavinci  is  solid  and  memorable  enough  to  work.  Very  few  web   brands  have  names  that  are  immediately  self  explanatory.   Yesterday  at  8:49am  via  mobile  ·∙  Unlike  ·∙  2   Aaron  Ottho  Whats  a  google?  Flickr?  Digg?  Yahoo?   Yesterday  at  8:50am  via  mobile  ·∙  Unlike  ·∙  2   Aaron  Ottho  I  dont  think  the  name  is  holding  you  back  in  any  case.  Its  unique  and  it   doesnt  imply  you  are  something  else.  Note:  your  site  has  nothing  to  do  with  menus  -‐   makes  me  think  you  provide  services  for  restaurants.   Yesterday  at  8:53am  via  mobile  ·∙  Unlike  ·∙  1   Francesca  Garfias  Foodavinci  for  sure.  It's  catchy  and  unique.  Not  menubend.  Sounds   cheap   Yesterday  at  9:38am  via  mobile  ·∙  Unlike  ·∙  2   Denise  Cobian  Hussinger  Foodavinci!  THE  ART  OF  FOOD  MAKING
  • 5.   Foodavinci  Follower  Quotes   Tink  Newman  After  studying  the  great  artist  Leonardo  da  vinci,  his  quest  for  creativity,   knowledge  and  innovation  seemed  like  a  great  metaphor  to  embrace  giving  the  world   the  creativity  of  working  with  food  substitutions.  As  leaders,  we  both  have  special  diets,   sing,  are  athletes,  are  involved  with  the  fine  arts  and  business.   Craig  Drebit  Very  interesting.  I  also  really  liked  the  name  but  was  confused  as  to  how  it   was  related  to  Leonardo  (who  is  one  of  my  heroes).   Craig  Drebit  Both  are  strong  names.   Craig  Drebit  that's  a  good  reason  to  change  it  [because  of  misspelling).  Though  I  really   like  the  old  name.   Gregg  Lutton-‐  I  think  Foodavinci  is  a  unique  and  memorable  name  with  marketable   opportunity.       Any  issue  surrounding  possible  misspellings  are  a  result  of  people  sharing  Foodavinci  in   a  mouth-‐to-‐mouth  context,  so  not  hyperlinking  the  website  address.    When  people  go   to  search  Foodavinci  on  Google  they  could  come  to  a  myriad  of  results  that  would  all  be   solved  by  SEO;  and,  Foodavinci  buying  the  URLs  of  the  mispellings  and  creating  re-‐ directs  to  the  Foodavinci  site.       I'm  of  the  opinion  that  a  web  based  company  needs  strong  SEO  and  I'm  also  of  the   opinion  that  re-‐branding,  whilst  vogue,  is  a  costly  endeavour  that  is  best  avoided.   John  Newman  -‐  Foodavinci  would  mean  an  innovative  food  creation  source.    DaVinci   was  creative  and  innovative.  It  has  the  cool  factor,  don’t  forget  that.     Amanda  Chanimal  -‐  Foodavinci  makes  me  think  of  all  my  foodie  friends  who  would  lay   down  $200  on  truffle  oils.     Maja  Milojevic-‐  It's  more  fun  and  creative.  Catches  my  interest  more.   Random  student  –  It  seems  a  little  pretentious     Invoke  designer  –  it  makes  me  think  of  food  and  art.     Husky  Gas  Station  owner  (and  owner  of  4  other  businesses)  –  My  favourite  from  you   choices?  Foodavinci.  *shrugs  shoulders  like  it’s  obvious*.
  • 6. Switchcook   Craig  Drebit  -‐  Changing  how  things  are  made.   Ernestine  Newman    -‐  it  makes  me  think  that  someone  else  is  being  the  cook,  like   teaching  kids  to  cook.   Jevta  Lukic  This  is  hard!  There's  some  interesting  names  on  here!   Travis  E  Thiele  IngrediAnswers   Amanda  Chanimal  -‐  Switchcook  makes  me  think  of  people  (like  me,  more  often  than   not)  who  want  a  damn  good  salad  for  cheap,  but  a  quality  one  too.     NEW  FACEBOOK  THREAD         Do  you  like  the  Foodavinci  updated  logo  and  the  possible  alternative  name  Switchcook?   Do  you  like  the  arrows  to  indicate  "switching  substitutions"?  –  Tink     Craig  Drebit  I  like  the  new  name  but  not  the  first  logo.  The  second  one  is  pretty  dope.   How  did  the  Foodavinci  name  come  into  being?   Tink  Newman  After  studying  the  great  artist  Leonardo  da  vinci,  his  quest  for  creativity,   knowledge  and  innovation  seemed  like  a  great  metaphor  to  embrace  giving  the  world   the  creativity  of  working  with  food  substitutions. Tink  Newman  hm.  thanks  for  letting  me  know.  are  you  confused  now  still  or  do  you   think  a  name  change  would  be  a  good  idea?
  • 7. Tink  Newman  I  also  look  at  this  website  like  it  will  be  a  hero  to  helping  many  people   with  special  diets.   Tink  Newman  the  name  literally  translates  to  the  concept  of  'food'  'to'  'win'  in  italian.   Craig  Drebit  Both  are  strong  names.  I  find  that  Switchcook  is  more  descriptive  as  to  the   purpose  of  the  organization  but  Foodavinci  is  far  more  unique.  Whether  it's  a  good  idea   to  change  the  name  depends  on  the  goal.  Was  the  old  name  not  being  promoted   enough,  was  it  not  successful?   Tink  Newman  It  is  just  that  a  few  people  misspelled  it,  so  a  potential  investor  is   questioning  whether  it  is  the  best  name  to  go  with.   Tink  Newman  We  are  not  promoting  at  all  right  now  because  we  are  still  building  the   prototype.   Tink  Newman  What  things  does  switchcook  make  you  think  of?   Craig  Drebit  that's  a  good  reason  to  change  it.  Though  I  really  like  the  old  name   Craig  Drebit  Changing  how  things  are  made.   Craig  Drebit  LOL  I  know.  I'm  not  entrenched  in  the  movement  like  you  are  but  if  it  is   going  to  be  mispelled  and  possibly  overlooked,  perhaps  simpler  is  better.   Tink  Newman  possibly.  I've  come  up  with  all  the  simplest  names  (so  far)  that  convey  the   meaning  though,  and  16/26  people  voted  for  Foodavinci  over  any  other  name...   Friday  at  11:42am  ·∙  Edited  ·∙  Like  ·∙  2   Amanda  Chanimal  If  you  could  name  3  values  of  your  company  and  3  services,  what   would  they  be?   Tink  Newman  3  Values:  Creativity,  Knowledge,  Wisdom,     3  Services:  Substitutions  system,  online  grocery  shopping,  Nutritional  and  Chef   consulting.   Amanda  Chanimal  Your  values  make  me  want  Foodavinci.  Your  services  make  me  want   Switchcook.  I  was  hoping  to  help  you  out  here  haha   Amanda  Chanimal  In  all  honesty,  though.  If  you  were  to  market  to  educated  people  who   want  a  unique  and  creative  way  to  try  new  foods...Foodavinci   Amanda  Chanimal  If  you're  marketing  to  the  working  professional  who  really  does  not   have  time  or  much  money  to  spend  and  you  want  to  appeal  to  that  fast-‐paced  person...   Switchcook
  • 8. Ernestine  Leonard  Newman  I  think  the  hook/arrows  look  strange.  You  are  trying  to  build   a  creative  beautiful  website  that  people  will  want  to  browse  recipes  and  shop  for  hard   to  find  (expensive)  foods!  Anything  gluten  free  is  expensive!   Kyle  Nealy  This  is  the  one  i  was  referring  too,  instead  of  a  "switch"  sign,  i  interpreted  it   as  an  infinite  sign.   Friday  at  10:17pm  via  mobile  ·∙  Unlike  ·∙  1   Kyle  Nealy  I  don't  think  any  of  these  ones  really  get  the  whole  "infinity"  design  across,   they  definitely  allude  to  it  (or  maybe  that's  just  the  nerd  coming  out  in  me).  When  I   glanced  at  this  earlier  the  first  thing  I  thought  was  "infinity,  infinitely  many  ideas  for   food,  etc"  I'm  not  sure  that  was  your  intent  for  these  logos  but,  I  thought,  perhaps,  it   might  be  an  idea  you  might  want  to  play  around  with  and  draw  up  a  couple  more  logos   with  that  in  mind.  Just  a  personal  thought  more  than  anything.   Denise  Cobian  Hussinger  don't  like  the  name  Switcook.  I  like  Foodavinci...THE  ART  OF   FOOD.  I  don't  get  the  arrows....alternative  switches?  Nope,  don't  get  it.  Sorry.
