9. 1. Continuous Mode Testing
After every print job, ink jet cartridges and solid ink
(wax) cartridges must purge their nozzles to avoid
clogging. I.S.O. tests are run in a continuous mode so
that there are no losses as a result of this cleansing
procedure. Short run work, according to manufacturers
tests, actually deliver yields as low as 25% of those
projected from continuous mode testing.

The I.S.O.'s ink jet colour test patterns have 15%
coverage (vs laser @ 20%). However, typical
business colour documents tend to approximate
30 % coverage.

I.S.O. tests every 100 print/copy for quality. If
a colour cartridge with a 500 yield potential
failed at 525 prints, it could get a 600 print
rating. Rounding up when quot;fadequot; occurs can
affect yields by 10% - 20%.

best suited for low volume applications, due
to the high cost of the supplies. Laser
printers are sometimes more practical for
higher volume office environments.
