Interactive Classrooms Project <ul><li>Interactive Classrooms is part of the NSW Government election commitment to “Connected Classrooms” </li></ul><ul><li>This project will invest $66 million into NSW Public Schools to ensure the provision of an interactive whiteboard and video conferencing capability into every school in NSW </li></ul><ul><li>200 schools will receive this equipment before 30 June 2008 </li></ul>

Key Messages <ul><li>Every school in NSW will receive a fully installed and equipped “Interactive Classroom.” </li></ul><ul><li>Installations will happen in a phased way between June 2008 and June 2011. </li></ul><ul><li>Every school in NSW will benefit from the development of the Learning Tools project. </li></ul><ul><li>Every school in NSW will experience enhanced network bandwidth, security, network speed and reliability. </li></ul>

  18. 19. Installation <ul><li>The installation of the equipment will be undertaken by an installation company. DELL is the chosen Systems Integrator and operates as the DET ICT Equipment Fleet Management Desk (ph 1800 654 310) </li></ul><ul><li>Dates for the installation of equipment into the first 200 schools were negotiated with the school principal and Regional ICT Manager. Future blocks of school installations will be undertaken in the same manner </li></ul>
  19. 20. Costs <ul><li>All costs associated with the installation of the previously listed ICP equipment into a suitable learning space will be met by the Interactive Classroom Program. </li></ul><ul><li>LAN remediation is not part of the ICP </li></ul><ul><li>Additional or peripheral equipment is the responsibility of the individual school – schools are encouraged to discuss their ideas and requirements with a member of their Regional IT team </li></ul>

Technical Support <ul><li>Real-time help desk support will be established as part of the ICP to support video conferencing. </li></ul><ul><li>The ICT Equipment Fleet Manager will provide onsite training in the base equipment package at the time of installation. </li></ul><ul><li>Normal IT help desk facilities will apply for general enquires and issue resolution. </li></ul><ul><li>Warranty and maintenance provisions are being determined </li></ul>

Time Frames <ul><li>First 200 schools will be installed by 30 June 2008. </li></ul><ul><li>Equipment installation commenced in May 2008. </li></ul><ul><li>400 additional schools will receive their equipment suite between July 08 and December 08 – this schedule will continue until all sites have received their ICP. </li></ul>

Professional Learning <ul><li>Curriculum K-12, Professional Learning and Leadership, ITD, Regions and CLI are working together to support teacher professional learning in relation to the ICP. </li></ul><ul><li>Resource materials to support schools are currently being produced to introduce staff to the project. Eg “Enhancing student learning using video-conferencing”. </li></ul>
