  • 3. Fundamental Scientific Library of National Academy of Sciences of Republic of Armenia
    • The Fundamental Scientific Library (FSL) of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia was founded in 1935. FSL is the second one for capacity of its funds and is the main and largest repository of scientific publications. It is a powerful information and bibliographical services center for the whole National Academy of Sciences of Armenia with all of its 40 subordinate scientific research institutions, as well as scientists and specialists in all fields of physical, mathematical, natural sciences and the humanities.
  • The Role of FSL in Natural Science Promotion
    • The growing collection of more than 3 million books, periodicals, manuscripts, theses, conference proceedings on life and technical sciences and humanities has a multicultural emphasis, dating from XIX century to current publications. The list of the FSL collections in natural sciences is as follows:
    • 4. Directory of Open Access Journals
    • 5. on-line journals such as
    • 6. Armenian Journal of Mathematics
    • 7. Armenian Journal of Physics
    • 8. Proceedings of NAS RA: Mechanics
    • 9. Biological Journal of the NAS RA
    • 10. National Academy of Armenian SSR Proceedings: physics, mathematics, natural and technical sciences (1948-1956
    • 11. National Academy of Armenian SSR Proceedings: Physics-mathematics sciences (1957-1965)
    • 12. All-Russian Mathematical Portal
  • International Scientific-Educational Center of theNational Academy of Sciences of Republic of Armenia
    International Scientific-Educational Center of the
National Academy of Sciences of Republic of Armenia
(ISEC) was established in 1997 on the basis of PhD
studies аt National Academy of Sciences.
ISEC’s goal is to prepare highly qualified
    scientists through Master Studies, Postgraduate
    Studies, Postdoctoral Studies
  • 13. The Role of ISEC in Natural Science Promotion
Studies of Master students in academic environment
enables them to quickly integrate to scientific
public and acquire scientific thinking. Such
    approach promotes the harmonization of
    education and science.
ISEC financially supports Masters in Natural Sciences by co financing study costs , offering 50% discount to academy employees and their family members giving free of charge access to laboratories at Scientific Research Institutions enabling them to carry out their research
Thus in this way ISEC promotes MSc Students to continue their education in ISEC as PhD researchers
  • 14. The Role of ISEC in Natural Science Promotion
ISEC also publishes “In the World of Science” scientific popular journal reflecting on inventions and achievements in different spheres of science designated for different layers of public.
ISEC has two scientific groups dealing with:
    • Bioinformatics
    • 15. Superconductivity
  • SWOT ANALYSIS
    Strengths
    The biggest scientific library collection
    Digitization of natural science materials
    E-Book Collection development in progress
    Weaknesses
    Insufficient computer literacy of users
    Greater demand of traditional resources
Very high cost of paid subscriptions to e-resources
Falling demand for Natural Sciences both in Master and
    PhD level
  • 16. Recommendations for Combating Weaknesses
To increase computer literacy by regular trainings among students and lecturers Information technology is a mandatory course for all PhD students
Search for additional financial resources through grants and tenders, applying to donors
  • 17. Marketing Campaign
Information Dissemination through website of FSL and ISEC
Advertisement in the ‘ World of Science’ Journal and TV
Sending regular newsletters to alumni members
Application of some Web 2.0 toolkits such as: blogging, facebook
