  • 1. RAJAGIRI SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING AND Click to edit Master title style TECHNOLOGY, KOCHI PROPOSAL FOR INTRODUCTION OF IEEE-RASET Reward Points Prepared by Deepu Joseph, LINK Rep, IEEE-RASET IEEE-RASET | www.ieeeraset.org
  • 2. C urrent system drawbacks title style Click to edit Master • Benefits of IEEE membership not reaching everyone. • Frustrations of low returns despite heavy membership fees. • No method to measure and reward member contributions. • No log of individual member contributions. • Identification of students for formation of special task groups and committees is difficult. • Low level of interest in research activities among students. In order to solve these problems, an incentive based system, called the IEEE-RASET reward points system, is proposed. IEEE-RASET | www.ieeeraset.org
  • 3. T he Click to edit Master title style proposal • Every IEEE-RASET student member has a reward points account associated with her/him. • The student execom identifies IEEE-related tasks and activities that help enhance the value of her/his IEEE membership. • Student members are rewarded points on accomplishment of these activities/tasks. Perform IEEE activity * IEEE student member IEEE-RASET reward points IEEE-RASET | www.ieeeraset.org * Activities are defined by the execom
  • 4. T he Click to edit Master title style proposal • Each task/activity is to be assigned a specific amount of points, as decided by the college execom. • Points earned vary, depending on the effort required for the activity, task or achievement. • Members may be offered badges such as “senior member”, “diamond member”, etc. depending on their point status. • At the end of the academic year/semester, members with the maximum accumulated points will be rewarded at a specially organised function. IEEE-RASET | www.ieeeraset.org
  • 5. T he Click to edit Master title style aim IEEE-RASET reward points scheme is in tune with the IEEE global initiative to pump up brand identity, value and visibility. • Increase motivation and interest among students. • Quantitatively measure member contributions, and arrive at how effectively the IEEE membership was utilised. • Encourage students to come up with new ideas, opening a window of opportunity for growing their technical and managerial skills. • Encourage research interest in IEEE related topics. IEEE-RASET | www.ieeeraset.org
  • 6. T he Click to edit Master title style aim • Recognise and reward dedicated contributors in the student branch. • Identify range and scope of branch activities, and direct them in tune with the goals of IEEE. • Makes better use of the IEEE student web hosting facilities by providing current point standing online. • Encourage wider participation in IEEE activities and tasks. • Educate members about lesser known benefits of IEEE membership. IEEE-RASET | www.ieeeraset.org
  • 7. T he Click to edit Master title style activities Proposed below are a few possible activities/tasks that the execom may consider for rewarding IEEE-RASET reward points: • Volunteering for IEEE events. • Participation in contests, seminars, conferences, workshops or any other such activities organised by the IEEE. • Completion of an IEEE project. • Writing and/or publishing a research paper (including white papers). • Participation in WIE activities. IEEE-RASET | www.ieeeraset.org
  • 8. T he Click to edit Master title style activities • Attending and/or winning a prize at a technical fest. • Publishing a paper in an IEEE journal. • Selection into the LiNK team. • Selection into college executive committee (execom). • Referring new members to join IEEE. • Brownie points for extra enthusiasm/effort in any IEEE related activity. • Other IEEE activities as decided by the execom.
