Elaborated boxes, as you will see, are fully sequenced, include non-digital as well as digital resources, and have detailed teacher notes. Standard eBookboxes are not sequenced, they contain only digital resources, and they only have brief teacher notes.
The front end of every eBookbox contains key ideas, learning goals and focus questions, a summary of the learning that is needed before beginning the box, as well as the learning students will be able to move on to after completing the box. The relevant elements of the VELS standard are also provided. Also included are details of the common misunderstandings and suggested teaching strategies and activities.Work to support and improve teachers pedagogical knowledge by bringing together and integrating research based support material for teachers. Diagnostic tasks provide information about where students are at within a particular area. Using this and student data from within the Ultranet teachers can plan to support students - teachers can assign different learning tasks /tasks from different eBookboxes to different students.
Integrating online maths journals in each eBookbox for student reflection.Teacher notes provide advice on collaborative learning, discussion and reflection for many learning activities. Ultranet tools make it possible for students to collaborate on their learning in an online environment such as setting up a class blog or wiki in Collaborative Learning Space- this hasn’t been available before.
DEECD has purchased Young Digital Planet (YDP) content, Wolfram Mathematica, Mathletics resources – integrated into eBookboxes. Importance of difference between standard and elaborated eBookboxes.
