No one can spend lessthan two or three hours in this great site of thecity, which, according to Buddhist records, is2,600 years old and the celebration was just inMay 2012. All the stupas of the pagoda, abouta thousand, located surrounding the main oneof 99m high, all are said to be gold-plated andremain incomparably magnificent after alldestruction of wars and time. Today we will alsovisit the Yangon Jetty where we can see howMyanmar people take very hard jobs to earn aliving in between great tranquil landscape ofthe river and charming colonial quarter. We will stop en route at the Taukkyan WarMemorial, dedicated to the British soldiers who died inMyanmar during WWII, to listen to our tourguide about animportant time in contemporary history of Myanmar. Uponarrival at the base camp of the Golden Rock (locallynamed Kyaikhtiyo), we will change to a government’struck to climb up the hill for about half an hour, then walkon foot uphill for about another hour to arrive at theGolden rock. At the end of the road, the sunset on of theRock and the surrounding area will amaze us with theirmagnificent view - a quaint temple on the top of a nearly-but-never-fallen giant rock, which is covered day by dayby real golden plates from pilgrims. YANGON - BAGO - GOLDENROCK (B/L/-)Itinerary in detailBreakfast box will be prepared by our hotel again for our very early trip at 4.30 or 5.00 to catch the sunrise inBagan. This visit should not be missed and you can deep yourselves into the best view of the country inabsolute tranquility, isolation and genuineness. As Bagan posses thousands of stupas, temples, pagoda, ourtourguide will keep the program flexible and introduce you to the best of them, including Ananda Temple - oneof the finest in architecture and most revered temples with its four standing Bagan style Buddha images andhuge carved teak doors, Ananda Oakkyaung - simply a Monastery built with red bricks, located within theprecincts of the Ananda Temple. It was built in 1137 AD and paintings of the 18th century are seen in the wallsof the monastery, Thatbyinnyu Temple - 201ft tall, the tallest in Bagan and it is shaped like a cross, but is notsymmetrical. The temple has two primary storeys, with the seated Buddha image located on the secondstorey. Dhammayangyi Temple - the widest temple in Bagan, and is built in a plan similar to that of AnandaTemple. Or Shwezigon Pagoda - built by King Anawrahta, a prototype of later Myanmar stupas, HtilominloTemple well-known for its old mural, fine plaster carving and glazed sandstone decoration.The Shwezigon can be saved until we are back to Nyang-U as it offers great view in the dusk.O/N Bagan.Our Breakfast box will be prepared bythe hotel in Mandalay if we need tocatch very early flight to Bagan today.Transfer to the airport.Welcomed by the guide in Bagan(Nyang-U airport) and transfer to thehotel which located very close by theairport. The visitshould not be too rush-up so that we can reallycontemplate the morning beauty of the site and feel theambience of the most Buddhist country near Indochina,with kind, warm-hearted and diligent people. Beforemidday we will be transferred back to the base camp atKinpun again on foot then by truck and take our vehicle todrive back to Yangon. If time available, we will stopover inBago on the way to visit graceful temples and villages.Upon arrival in Yangon, take afternoon flight to MandalayWelcomed by the tourguide in Mandalay and transfer tothe city (about 45 minutes) to check-in hotel. Different from other tranquil towns ofMyanmar, Mandalay is much more hectic, business-minded, yet the city maintains very well great vestiges thatcannot be missed like Amarapura, Sagaing hill and U-Bein Bridge that we will visit today.We will go to the monastery in Amarapura before 10am,where the brunch, the only meal of the day, of thousandsof monks is held every day at 10am, a very respectful andtraditional ritual yet open to visitors to contemplate anddiscuss with the Buddhist people and monks tounderstand more about religious life and traditions ofBuddhism in Myanmar. (Lunch between visits at a localrestaurant.) Go on to Sagaing hill to enjoy a great view ofmultiple pagodas and temples dotted the hillside, makinga unique panorama for Mandalay, and visit famousMahamuni temple before enjoying the sunset over U-Beinbridge, the longest and most captivating teakwood bridgein the world. Back to the hotel later afternoon. O/NMandalay.After breakfast we will be transferred to the jetty to takeour boat trip to Mingun by local ferry. After about 11kmupstream watching all types of wooden boats andbamboo rafts, carrying goods up and down the river wewill reach the place and visit Mingun Bell, weighting 87tons and being the world’s largest intact bronze bell.Continue to the beautiful HsinbyumePaya and theunfinished MingunPaya (built with the intention of beingthe world’s biggest pagoda). Beside the incomparableview of vestiges, Mingun gives us a chance to get close tothe life of countryside people either we can witness theirhard-working on the river or at the villages near Mingun.Lunch at local restaurant between visits. Yet, the boat trip heading to thehotel may offer you a great chance to contemplatethe one-leg rowing skill of the fishermen living in thelake, the beauty of green floating gardens, andmany kinds of birds living and being protectedsurrounding the lake.Check in hotel and have lunch at local restaurant.Afternoon visit floating gardens and handicraftvillages in the lake, where the locals produceweaving stuff from silk and lotus fiber, making cute“Myanmar tobacco”, blacksmith and silverwaregoods, a great chance to buy gifts for your familyand friends. The boat trip itself will give us betterconception about the life of people at Shan stateand Myanmar too. If time available, visit theJumping Cat monastery.Back to the hotel late afternoon.
