Foreword This is the story of 2 brilliant young people Motivated and ambitious, they enjoyed their student lives a lot – but they felt so excited the day when they started looking at the jobmarket and uncovered all these exciting jobs that might be just for them, maybe even the job of their dreams. Every young graduates have their own characteristics. Some boast a reassuring personal self-confidence; others feel worried about their job hunts. Some know immediately what they want to do; others can’t stop doubting and hesitating. And when they have found the job of their dreams, some are so beaming they would shout and dance all night, while others are frightened and wish they had more time to think before engaging. What these two characters have in common is the career orientation they decided to take up: The House of Marketing has chosen them, and they have chosen The House of Marketing. They will become Consultants. And they’re all eager for it. More than ever, their daily lives will be rich in demanding accomplishments. Sign a contract, receive a company car, get an apartment, discuss briefings and work on projects – they will learn the professional jargon, and how fulfilling it is to become a professional with challenges and responsibilities. Therefore, they will have to give up their student way of life, and remember it like a tender memory, sometimes with nostalgia but never with regrets. Both started at The House of Marketing together on the same day: 15 August. They agreed to share their own personal version of a collective experience. And tell how, after a few emotionally charged months, they managed to find their place and feel at home within The House of Marketing.Presentation1 2

  4. 4. How do you experience your first year as a marketing consultant at THoM? I still remember the first day at the client… I was very excited and scared at the same time. A lot of questions went through my head: Can I do it? What will I learn? Etc. The first weeks and even months were quite heavy. I had to adapt to a new lifestyle, to work on a very demanding project etc. However, I was glad to learn a lot of new things, to meet interesting people, and of course to become independent! Supported by my THoM’s colleagues, I overcame my worries and started to blossom up. Currently, I am managing my time and my energy more efficiently, which gives me the opportunity to remain ‘sociable’. Presentation1 4
  5. 5. What makes THoM unique for you? First of all, the focus of THoM on personal development. THoM is, from my point of view, the perfect example of excellence and passion for marketing at a human level. I have a lot of challenges, the projects are demanding even though I am still Sophie Nicaise, with my needs and my desires. Moreover, they help me to develop a lot of competencies through various trainings. Finally, I appreciate the mutual support: I can always call a THoMer for insights or new approaches; he will always try to help me.Presentation1 5
  6. 6. What motivates you the most in your job? I really get the feeling that I evolve and that I grow on a professional as well as on a personal level. I adore the diversity of projects that THoM offers me. If I have to mention one disadvantage, it is the fact that our job is so fascinating that sometimes I cannot stop working (or thinking about my projects) and my professional life is encroaching on my private life. However, I am still passionate by my job and excited about all the learning opportunities available to me.Presentation1 6

  8. 8. How do you experience your first year as a marketing consultant at THoM? In one word: eye-opening! My first year at THoM was the best professional experience I could ever hope for. I am a person who loves to do many things and to acquire new knowledge every day. And that is exactly what THoM offers to young graduates. During my first year I was involved in 8 client project in many different sectors: entertainment, publishing, petroleum, information technology, FMCG, etc. Above all I met a lot of very interesting people with great experiences!Presentation1 8
  9. 9. What makes THoM unique for you? THoM is personal and interested in who I am and what I would like to achieve, both in my personal and professional life. Actually, our slogan says it all: realize YOUR full potential through passion and excellence for marketing. There is one thing I will never forget: at THoM you are never alone. In every project I was dealing with I could count on the THoMers for advice, feedback, discussion material etc. Thanks to the great diversity and openness of THoM consultants I feel like being part of one big (professional) family.Presentation1 9
