Children in Poverty
- If you are seeing this, chances are you were not born into poverty.
- Good for you.
- But every second child born on this earth is not so lucky
- Nearly half (one billion) of the world’s children are born into poverty
- Poverty is the most devastating thing that can happen to childhood
- Imagine having to struggle for every meal
- Imagine being denied basic education
- Imagine being driven to the streets to fend for yourself
- Imagine having to work to feed yourself
- Imagine being driven to drugs and crime for the sake of money and a sense of happiness
- Imagine being abused physically, mentally, spiritually
- Imagine having no childhood
- And as a result, imagine having no chance at a decent adulthood
- Take a moment and Imagine being born into poverty
- Poverty steals childhood and a child’s basic rights
- Poverty kills the mind, spirit and soul of a child even before they are actually alive
- Poverty is not a choice
- We just got lucky. Incredibly lucky.
