Hubspot has some interesting data on which apps Tweeters are using - about 50% of tweets are coming from the web, others from desktop, mobile and aggregators/automatic feeds. Find it here: http://blog.hubspot.com/blog/tabid/6307/bid/4584/New-Data-on-Top-Twitter-Applications-and-Usage.aspx

Updated again as a helpful reader pointed out missing data on slide 4 re age distribution. Last time I put slides together early Saturday morning w/out a later proofread prior to posting! Apologies.

Slides are updated with a more conservative traffic estimate from Compete. I don’t like using the Compete data as it missed out on all the API traffic; reconciling the actual user count across multiple devices/sessions is even more tricky. Twitter needs to release better data themselves. For now, I’m going with the more conservative data.

Nice deck -- please re-post without the Bloomberg # of 55 million daily users. Must have been a typo -- it’s off by a factor of 10x - 50x. http://socialsphere.net/blogs/36-johns-blog/255-come-clean-twitter.html

  2. The basics on Twitter Twitter is a social networking and micro-blogging service that allows its users to send and read other users' updates (or “tweets”), which are text-based posts up to 140 characters in length. Tweets are displayed on the user's profile page and delivered to other users who have signed up to receive them (or to “follow” the sender). Users can receive updates via the Twitter website, SMS, RSS, or through a range of applications that take advantage of Twitter’s open API to deliver a range of enhanced functionality via a number of channels. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twitter February 14, 2009  Who's on Twitter? © THINK Interactive, Inc.on Twitter? © THINK Interactive, Inc. 2 February 14, 2009 Who's 2
