Notes on slide 1

Up until now, it is has been very difficult to get the brand awareness or reach of the large companies like Nike, Apple, Home Depot, etc. due to budgetary constraints. Social Networking has changes that. I am absolutely delighted to be here to talk about my very favorite topics, branding and marketing, with all of you. I have about 7000 hours worth of content to go over, and we are going to compress that into an hour and 1/2 and I would like to leave a large amount time at the end so you can work on your unique selling proposition and marketing strategy and to answer some question. In the handouts provided, I have included my contact information incase I do not get your questions answered today. Okay? So let ’s get started . What I would like to do before we actually move forward is get a little bit of information about you. This will help me as we move forward to ensure that I am giving you content that is going to be relevant. So the first question I have for you is: how many of you are independent consultants?; how many are small business owners? How many of you are primarily working in the B2B marketplace and how many are selling to consumers? MORE QUESTIONS??? MAY NOT NEED TO ASK THESE AT ALL What I want to do is just give you the agenda for today. We are going to be covering

Explain how it is viral and how it works - Use your network to make connections There is so much to cover with social networking that I don’t know where to begin sometimes. I could spend all day speaking about it and how to apply it, but I only have bout 20 minutes today. I am going to start off by talking about facebook and then if time allows I will talk a bit about twitter and linkedin.

Now that you understand why facebook and social networking are so important, how do you use them?

Not going to go over all of the tools - there ar so many! Social networking is about building relationships and leveraging your existing contacts to gain new contacts. You want loyal followers and you want people to see your brand and ultimately take action. Here are some tools to help you succeed––for the most part they apply to all social networking groups.

You need to start out by creating a page or group or both for your company. Usually don’t suggest both.

I am not going to go into how to actually set up and use facebook or any of the other social marketing tools––instead, I am going to go over the options and uses available for each. How many of you are currently using facebook for your business? Personally? How many feel you are properly utilizing it? Facebook started out as tool for Harvard University students to communicate, It then turned into a platform for other teens to communciate. And, adults and business quickly caught on and started adopting it to promote their companies and products. I am going to quickly go over a few of the ways you can use facebook to grow your business.

Sumarize twitter Explain follower and following Right now, Twitter is the talk of the Web among marketers. Use of the elegantly simple social-media site has rocketed unlike anything in recent memory—and it's businesses that are leaping onto the Twitter bandwagon. The New York Times calls Twitter "one of the fastest growing phenomena on the Internet." A recent study determined that at least five million people are using the service and new members are signing up at a clip of 10,000 per day. And unlike other "here today, gone tomorrow" services, Twitter seems to have staying power.
