Before the Vietnam War, there was another war called The Indochina war in (from 1946-1954) where the Communists seized control of Vietnamese nationalists and stopped France’s from helping to fix the economy. France then fought against the Communist until they were pushed from Vietnam.<br />Introduction<br />
  3. 3. The war was held between South Vietnam who had been supported by the United States and North Vietnam who was helped by a Communist-led rebellious groups such as the Soviet Union and the People’s Republic of China. <br />Who:<br />
  4. 4. The Indochina war started in 1946-1954 where the Communists took control of Vietnamese nationalists and ceased France’s from helping to fix the economy. There was fear that there would be instability along Southeast Asia after the French defeat. And Southeast Asia was a crucial part of the economics of U.S. allies. Americans began involving themselves in the Indochina war when the Mutual Defense Assistance Act was passed in 1949. Their goals were to provide aid to the French forces in their efforts to build a new colonial rule and to stop Communism from spreading. <br />What<br />
  5. 5. The Vietnam War was conflict that took place in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia from November 1, 1955 to April 30, 1975. U.S. involvement was at it’s peak in this war in the 1960’s, reaching the highest of this peak in 1968. <br />When:<br />
  6. 6. The war was in North and South Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos as well as bases in Thailand, and ships off the coast of Vietnam.<br />Where:<br />
  7. 7. In 1957, southern Vietnamese nationalists started a movement of political rebellion and terrorism sanctioned by Hanoi. This ended up starting a guerilla war, or the Vietnam war, discarding Diem’s government. The National Front for the Freeing of South Vietnam was made in the south by North Vietnam and was controlled by Communists to face Diem. Hanoi sent soldiers into South Vietnam with heavy loads of weapons and equipment. But they were soon caught by the government along with their weapons. The South began fighting against the North. President John F. Kennedy then decided it was time for American involvement. <br />Why:<br />

  11. 11. The American had a Stronger air force consisting of technically advanced fighters, bombers, and ground attack aircraft.<br />
  12. 12. The Vietcong used Russian Fighters called the Migs. They were underpowered and un-advanced Fighters dating back to the Korean war<br />

  15. 15. Conclusion<br />The Vietnam War was a Very bloody and hard fought over war that was caused by communism and won though tactics and technology. <br />
