  • 1. The Profit Share Presents…
    Free Google Traffic
“Why Getting Free Google TrafficReally Is As Simple As ABC”
  • 2. Overview
    • SEO is over-complicated by too many people
    • 3. Whilst SEO can be a science in itself, there are fundamentals to practice
    • 4. Google made recent updates to its search algorithm in June 2010 which affects the search results people get
    • 5. Getting free traffic from Google really can be as simple as ABC…
  • 6. A = ACTIVITY
  • 7. Activity
    • Activity on a blog or site means how much “engagement” or “interaction” there is on the site. Google now sees a more active blog as one which is more “relevant” for their search users
    • 8. On a blog, this mainly refers to the number of comments that the blog post gets. The more comments that the post gets, the more relevant Google sees it as
    • 9. The more recent these comments are, the more relevant they are to current search
  • 10. Activity
    • It is important for you to try to increase participation on your blog for many reasons
    • 11. You increase the relevancy of the post, therefore improve its chances of ranking higher in Google
    • 12. You get feedback from the people actually reading your blog
    • 13. You can build relationships with the people reading your blog by replying to their comments and helping them out
  • 14. B = BACKLINKS
  • 15. Backlinks
    • Every good blog or site has a “link building” strategy in place
    • 16. Most SEO experts believe that inbound links is the most important factor in search algorithms
    • 17. Links can be either “internal” or “external”
    • 18. Links can be either “organic” or “synthetic”
  • 19. Backlinks
    • Internal links are those that link from area of your blog to another. You should try to link other parts of your blog using target keywords as anchor text
    • 20. External links are links from other sites and blogs which link to yours
    • 21. Organic links are links that your blog gets as people have chosen to link to because your content is perceived as being valuable. Creating valuable content to entice people to link to it is known as creating “link bait”
  • 22. Backlinks
    • Synthetic links can be gained from using link building tools or using an outsource team
    • 23. Link exchanges can be used to cross-promote people’s blogs
    • 24. Systems such as “Free Traffic System” can help you provide content to other blogs in exchange for the backlinks
    • 25. Optimisation of pages using link building is known as “off page” factors
  • 26. C = CONTENT
  • 27. Content
    • Content can be thought of as “real estate” or “property” on the Internet
    • 28. The more pages and posts you have, the more entry points people have to your site. Entry points are called “landing pages”
    • 29. Each post should be created around keywords designed to attract a certain segment of traffic
    • 30. You should always have a purpose for the traffic you’re targeting
  • 31. Content
    • Information keywords attract information seekers
    • 32. Buyer keywords attract people in a buying state
    • 33. Your target keywords should be used within the web page’s title tag
    • 34. Your target keyword should be used within the description. The description is your advert on Google
    • 35. Optimisation of content is known as “on page” factors
  • 36. Content
    • Your keywords should be “varied around” your main keyword
    • 37. Your keywords should be in the permalink of your blog post
    • 38. Don’t rely too much on keyword density. It is grossly over-rated. 1% is plenty. Google used to respond to keyword density, however now it uses something called Latent Semantic Indexing which means using words closely related to the target keywords not just slight variations of the target keywords
  • 39. Content
    • You should always research KEI (Keyword Effectiveness Index) before you post. This means how much potential traffic your keyword can attract versus the competition for that keyword. This gives you an indication of how effective optimisation around that keyword is likely to be
    • 40. You should keep a log of all your blog posts (spreadsheet) with the keywords being targeted. This should be done before you create any posts
    • 41. Ensure you tag all images on your posts
  • 42. Content
    • Make sure you’re using Google XML Sitemaps and Google XML Video Sitemaps. This will help both your written and video content to be scanned by Googlebot which means your content will be indexed quickly and frequently
    • 43. Do not ping your content too frequently, otherwise you’ll be seen as a spammer. Use “Ping Optimizer” to control the frequency of pinging your posts
    • 44. Reuse your content. Create it in many formats and distribute to many places. More return for less effort
  • 45. Action Exercise: Improving Your SEO
What can you do now to improve the activity on your blog? How can you incentivise comments?
What link building strategy can you start right away to improve perceived relevancy amongst the search engines?
How can you set up a system to produce many optimised formats of each piece of content you create from now?
