  • 1. Last year we started going to a small town called 6 de Mayo to do a clinic for our missionary friends, Gary and Cheryl Kuney.Madonna had gone there before to help when they had a medical team come. Since we don’t do any rural clinics now, we offeredto go there the last Friday of the month to see patients. Our last trip just over a week ago, we had 30 patients. With Gilma and Ma-donna both seeing patients, we finished early, so were back in Las Brisas by 2 P.M. 6 de Mayo is just off the main highway betweenPuerto Cortés and San Pedro Sula, but not far from Puerto Cortés. It takes a little less than an hour to drive there.Chatswith theSprattsJohn and MadonnaSlides & Display Material:Mission Services AssociationP.O. • 2. From 1994 to 2000, we were happy to have with us to help with the Churchwork, Raul and Ana Martinez de Calderon. Ana had worked with Madonna in themountains and Raul was teaching there; they married in 1993. In 2000 they movedto Mexico near whereAna was born. She is the director of a nursing home there andRaul works with the church. Just before they left, they adopted a Honduran babygirl as they thought they would have no children. Right after they adopted her, Anagot pregnant, so now they have two daughters, Alejandra and Keina. They were inHonduras around Christmas time and stayed with one of Raul’s sisters in San PedroSula, and one day came to visit their friends in Las Brisas. The Calderon FamilyRaul, Ana, Keini and Alejandra Calderon. We rejoiced in February when eight people committedtheir lives to Christ and were baptized. Yenia, Alex, Edil, Dar-win, Virgen, Eda, Ana and Javier were those who were bap-tized in the baptistry just outside the Church. Edil and Darwinhad been on the list for prayers for their salvation. One of ourfaithful members is Blasina Licona and of the eight baptized, five were her relatives. Yenia, Edil and Darwin are grandchil-dren. Virgen is married to another grandson andAlex is a great-grandson. We know her influence has been strong to help themcome to Christ.New ChristiansThe eight people who were baptized recently.L. to r.: Yenia, Alex, Edil, Darwin, Virgen, Eda, Ana and Javier.Left: Hermano Reyno, ourminister, baptizing DarwinVelasquez.Right: Hermano Reyno talkingto Alex just before his baptism.Hermana BlasinaRecently Hermana (sister) Blasina had her 70th birthday, and they had a celebration for her at one of her son’s homes. The son, at the same time, celebrated his 50th birthday. Her-mana Blasina had 11 children, one of whom is deceased, andhas 32 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. There couldbe more than that, but that is a close number.Feliz Compleaños,Hermana Blasina with six of her eleven childrenand one granddaughter.Hermana Blasina with eight of her grandchildren.

They came to sing someChristmas songs for Madonna. There were only a few left whowere there when Madonna used to go check on them. Thanksto our friends, Chepa and Chela Canahuati, we had an extrabox of apples. So when the girls finished singing they all weregiven an apple.Girls from the Orphanage in OmoaThe girls from the orphanage in Omoa singing for Madonna. It seems that we have several families of bats in the at-tic of one of our guest houses. When we built the houses, Ihad no thought of the possibilities of a bats invasion. So, forventilation, I put blockswith holes at each end ofthe houses. The pictureshows me plugging theholes with cement. Ournext project is to get ridof them.Trying to get rid oftermites is an almost im-possible task. But we aremaking progress. Welost quite a few books. The termites came upthrough the cement alongthe bottom of the walls. We mixed cement witha substance (not sand)and put it along the baseof the walls and it seemsto be working. Asidefrom books, most of thekitchen cabinets had tobe replaced. (See photoson next page.)Bats and TermitesJohn putting cement in the ventilationholes in one of the guest houses.
