Life in abundance - april, 2014 -- trust in the name of the lord

  1. 1. Trust in the Name of the Lord file:///C|/...20in%20Abundance%20--%20April,%202014%20--%20Trust%20in%20the%20Name%20of%20the%20Lord.htm[4/29/2014 9:11:58 AM] Thank you for praying alongside the LIA team and for carrying this burden with us. Trust in the Name of the Lord "Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God." Psalm 20:7 Greetings Mission, Earlier this month, we joined with several ministries that serve all over the world, to share and grow together. Each ministry was assigned to share on a particular focus that that was deemed a strength. Our assignment was to share on the role of prayer — in our ministry and in our lives. As we all shared, we were humbled and renewed by the fact that we have a rich heritage in prayer.
  2. 2. Trust in the Name of the Lord file:///C|/...20in%20Abundance%20--%20April,%202014%20--%20Trust%20in%20the%20Name%20of%20the%20Lord.htm[4/29/2014 9:11:58 AM] It is, indeed, the cornerstone of our ministry and that which keeps us going. We can never underrate this or take it lightly. Simply put, it is our life line. We are always grateful that you join us in this practice weekly - we know that the Lord is pleased when we are bound together in seeking Him. Please thank God with me that He has enabled us to be founded on prayer and that this is perceived as a strength for LIA. I was reminded of Psalm 20:7, "Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God." May this be truly said of us. Pray that this trust will be sincere and that God will defend us in this. May I ask you to remain steadfast with us in prayer? It’s by taking time to pray that we have fellowship with God and with one another around the Kingdom. It’s by taking time to hear God that we understand the details of the assignment He has given this ministry and how we are individually called to walk with it. Intersession brings about his Kingdom in the communities we serve. This is my prayer and encouragement to each one of you: May God give and grow in us a spirit of prayer. An attitude that draws us to Him; a practice that will not fade or be overtaken by the business of the seasons, even in the years to come. Pray that our prayers will not be legalistic or routine. Neither should they become a fulfillment of duty, without a personal investment and brokenness. God does not despise a contrite heart but He resists the proud. "My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise." (Psalm 51:17) "But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” (James 4:6) Pray that we will be good listeners to God — that our attitude will be to seek Him and once we hear, to follow in obedience. Pray for the grace to obey. "But be very careful to keep the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you: to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to keep his commands, to hold fast to him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.” (Joshua 22:5) Let us jointly ask God today to anoint us with His spirit. Giving us the ability to discern His will and know what is true and right. Pray that those who we serve, and the people we serve with, even the least of these, will see and desire to be prayerful. May this be the beauty we bring, setting an example that encourages others to seek God and all His ways. Lastly, pray that God will continue to teach us how to pray. As you pray today, pray that we will pray always, without ceasing. Thank you for joining us in this. In Christ, Florence
