  • 1. HALA TANDO Praise God, we made it back to W. Africa! Gebhards head to home in the village. By Marc Walking with God is the best place to walk. And what a voyage it has been. Our original flight to West Africa (April 23-24) was suspended, but we were able to reschedule with another airline and flew out of DFW April 28. Special thanks to Larry and Matt for their help getting us and our baggage to the airport in Texas. It’s good to be back in Africa. The morning after we arrived, we were able to get in on the tail end of our PBT West Africa branch meeting and spiritual retreat. This week, we’re securing paperwork and preparing our vehicle for traveling upcountry. We’ve already been talking on the phone with some of our village friends. They’re waiting there with much anticipation. I talked to Pastor J just yesterday. His wife has a new baby and his family is doing well. Our friend Mr. Camara also emailed me today to update me on things that will need to be fixed at our house. Our front door’s lock needs to be repaired. Some things will need to be repainted after the fire last month. Our water pump needs some maintenance. Otherwise, things are pretty well in order for our return. News about the Gebhard family’s work with the Lele people in West Africa May 2014 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10 Friend Larry gives our family the final send off at Dallas, TX. Our plane lands in W. Africa April 29. HEADING UPCOUNTRY—Gebhards travel to the forest region where the Lele live. Pray  Safe travel back to our village home in Lele territory in the forest.  God’s continued healing from the Ebola virus that affected so many here the last few months. Praise God that the problem seems to be diminishing now.  Cleaning up and making house repairs.
  • 2. Transformed Lives Through God’s Word In Every Language Contact Financial Contributions*: PBT- Gebhard P.O. Box 10184 Terre Haute, IN 47801 *Donations to our ministry with PBT should be made out to “Pioneer Bible Translators”. Overseas Address: Marc and Tina Gebhard Traducteurs Pionniers de la Bible 030 BP 5 Kipe, Conakry REPUBLIC OF GUINEA West Africa E-mail: Thank you for partnering with us to reach the Lele and other Bible-less peoples around the world. We value your faithfulness to our ministry with Pioneer Bible Translators. Marc and Tina Lele believers praising God in a church service in one of the southern villages. We’re so looking forward to getting back out to our village house and our Lele friends. Pray for us as we travel upcountry. We’ll likely be making two trips to haul up recently shipped goods and work on fixing up the house to make it functional again. Pray also for our Lele friends. We’re heading in that difficult part of the year where last year’s rice crop is running out and people have to work like crazy in their fields to get this year’s crop planted. As the rains begin, the danger of malaria increases as well with the increasing mosquito population. Pray for extra protection for the people here in this part of West Africa—that God would grant them much protection from malaria and other diseases. Pray also that God would allow people to remain well- nourished despite their rice supply running low again. This year we have some important goals we are trying to work toward. We’d like to finish exegetically checking the book of Luke. We’d also like to publish a provisional printing of several hundred copies of Jonah. In addition to those goals, we want to train Pastor J and Mr. Camara to use Paratext, the software we are using in translating the Bible. If we are able to do that, there is great potential for our project to move forward at a faster pace. Thank you for your prayers and support. Pray that the Lele people would be transformed by God’s word coming alive in their language. Lele literacy technician Mr. Camara and his son Marc.
