The Najmons will arrive late Summer to begin the language school at the University of Lecce. In times of financial crisis and uncertainty, we rejoice with all of you as Ross and Megan begin their journey with IFC. Please pray for their visa process. Please pray for the year-long language school. Please pray for safety as the Najmons travel to Italy. Please pray for Ross and Megan as they pack and say their goodbyes to family and friends. Pray that the Lord goes before them. Rejoice as they join us for Church planting. The Joy and Pain of Ministry Over the last year different times we have experienced mixed feelings as we observed the ministry and mission work expanding its impact and outreach and at the same time being under attack of the enemy. While on one hand the ministry of ReCrea grew through Counseling and Training and its impact led to the conversion of several individuals, on the other hand the local churches have been under attack as they have faced several challenges and difficulty. • 2 SUMMER 2014THE BRUNOS NOTES The Ministry of ReCrea After 8 years the Brunos see the harvest being gathered right before their eyes as native Italians are trained for effective ministry and carry on the legacy of the faith The Ministry of Counseling The Brunos continue to move Italians from survival to significance. For almost one year through premarital counseling Stephany led Marco and Noemi in their preparation for marriage, while at the same time Gianni met with the couple to lead Noemi to Christ. When Noemi asked Gianni to immerse her into Christ, Gianni looked at Marco (already a follower of Christ) and asked him to baptize his future spouse. After agreeing with Gianni on February 16th Marco baptized Noemi. On June 2, 2014 Gianni officiated the wedding ceremony of Marco and Noemi with all religious and civil rights. For the first time in the history of our churches in Southern Italy the rights to legally perform a wedding ceremony were granted to an evangelical minister outside of the Catholic Church. The Ministry of Training Since last Fall Gianni started ReForma, the training ministry of ReCrea, in order to equip Christian men and women from the local churches of our area for effective Christian Ministry. 7 students completed the first Bible College level course in Pentateuch while 10 are now studying Gospel Narratives. One of them is Giuseppe, who the Lord is using to serve in the Latiano church. Gifted in the areas of teaching, pastoral care and evangelism, Giuseppe led his own mother to the Lord and baptized her into Christ on May 6, 2014. Top left: Gianni takes Noemi’s confession of faith. • 3 SUMMER 2014THE BRUNOS NOTES Training & Friendship Evangelism meet Over the last year Gianni and Stephany have invested time in ministering to Antonio and Paola. Antonio grew up in the Latiano church, but never considered serving in a leadership position until Gianni taught a Bible study on Spiritual Gifts. Antonio married Paola three years ago and is now father to Chiara. Antonio was touched by Gianni’s compelling words and realized how tragic it is when spiritual gifts are not used or go unnoticed in the church . After assessing Antonio’s spiritual gifts Gianni challenged him to serve in the local church! As a result Antonio has started to attend classes at ReForma and leads his family to the study of God’s Word and to prayer. Because of Antonio’s renewed passion for the Lord his wife Paola asked Gianni to study the plan of salvation. Upon his return from the US in May, Gianni met with Paola and Antonio. Paola affirmed her desire to give her life to the Lord and on May 4, 2014 after taking her confession of faith Gianni baptized her into Christ at the Latiano church. Antonio continues to grow as a strong Christian leader while he serves his Christian family daily and teaches a weekly small group. Continued Training Both Gianni and Stephany Bruno pursue further training to be better equipped for Mission work To the left Gianni’s Master of Arts diploma in New Testament. Gianni traveled to the US from February 20th to April 29th to finish his studies at Johnson University. Stephany continues her training in Dance- Movement Therapy at the Italian Art Therapy school in Bologna. Despite the sacrifices of continued studies, however the use of the creative process in her internship, intensives, and supervision allow her to be more effective in the counseling ministry. Stephany will finish her Italian studies in the Summer of 2016. Gianni taking Paola’s confession of faith Antonio e Paola Gianni baptizing Paola

  • 5 SUMMER 2014THE BRUNOS NOTES Community Impact As we minister in a very hard Mission field we ask God to open doors through which we can impact our communities! The Lord is using us in different ways to establish relationship in a non-threatening way. Gianni has been coaching soccer for the Francavilla Club Team. This opportunity has allowed him to impact young lives (6-7 yrs old) and teens (13-15 yrs old). The Lord has provided several opportunities for him to share his faith with these young people. Stephany has been using the arts as a way to reach out. Over the last year her involvement with an Art group has allowed her to lead an art class in the public school where our children attend. She has also contributed artistically to the dance recital of Anyssa’s Ballet school. For the third year in a row the churches from Francavilla, Latiano and Oria along with several non Christians friend have put together the yearly food drive. A 15 hours effort allows us to provide food to almost 50 families with impelling needs. Volunteers collect the food, prepare the packages that are then distributed and delivered at the houses of those families in our communities. Praise God several opportunities to share our faith develop naturally out of this crucial ministry. • With growth comes also some very tough challenges. Over the last year our local churches have been exposed to several issues that had the potential of overwhelming our young congregations. Issues such as living together before marriage, Pentecostalism and disorder in the public gatherings have required extra attention and dedication on our part. With godly timing and an assertive spirit Gianni has been involved directly in addressing these issues one at the time as he led the Italian leaders from the churches through the rough waters of conflict and false teaching. Such challenges have provided the leaders that IFC had trained with an immediate hands on occasion to which they have responded unanimously with a biblically sound approach. It has not been easy, but the leadership provided by the IFC team is proving helpful and essential for each church. Please join us in prayer for the churches of Southern Italy. Churches under attack Brunos Notes THE BRUNOS NOTES SUMMER 2014 The Brunos will return to the US on Furlough for the Summer of 2015. We thank our God for your partnership in the Mission work of IFC here in Southern Italy, but we ask you to continue to pray for our needed financial concerns (we need $ 1,200.00 monthly to meet our budget). For Christ in Italy, Gianni, Stephany, Anyssa and Raffaele Bruno The Brunos at Marco and Noemi’s Italian wedding: Gianni (42), Stephany (38), Anyssa (11) and Raffaele (7) PRAYER REQUESTS & PRAISES: Give praise for Ross and Megan arrival in August. Rejoice with us over the fruit of the Mission work. Rejoice with us over the incredible impact of the Counseling ministry. Rejoice with us over the Ministry training of ReCrea and its students from several local congregations. Please be in prayer for the IFC Team and the impelling troubles of the local congregations. Please pray that the Lord will provide the continued financial means to meet our budget. Please pray for our health: Jim our team leader is experiencing several health problems and will undergo more testing in the next few weeks. Please pray for our family as we grow in our relationship with the Lord and for Anyssa and Raffaele and their relationship with Jesus in a land “where there is no acknowledgment of God.” Please pray for all of those with whom we share life together and for all of those with whom we are sharing the Lord: Clementina, Lucia, Vincenzo, Espedito, Federica, Riccardo, Graziano, Gloria, Marcello, Tiziana, Anna, Maria, Vanessa, Sabrina, and some more. Pray that as we study the Bible with these people their hearts will open to Jesus and they will surrender to Him.
