Typhoon yolanda gets help from local and international organizations
1. Typhoon Yolanda Gets Help from Local and International Organizations
The intensity of typhoon Yolanda
and the damage it brought to some
provinces in the Philippines has
astounded the entire world.
Categorized as a super typhoon, it
made a landfall in the eastern part
of Visayas on November 8, 2013.
With maximum sustained winds of
315kph and gustiness of 220kph,
typhoon Yolanda can cause
catastrophic destruction. When it
hit the eastern seaboard of the
Philippines bringing strong winds
and heavy rains, homes were
wrecked and storm surge was
created.
Huge
waves
were
powerful enough to destroy
concrete fences, homes, business establishments and public offices. Tacloban City was the
hardest hit city. All in all, 9.8 millions of people were affected, almost 4,000 people were injured
and almost a hundred are missing. The devastation that Yolanda left will remain a nightmare to
those who survived and lost everything but their lives and some of their loved ones.
Because of this tragic event, people from all over the world felt sorry and they suddenly feel the
urge to help. If you are among these people, there are a number of ways you can help the
victims of typhoon Yolanda. One of the best ways to help is to donate through relief goods and
medical aid. Local governments and international organizations have been offering relief to the
victims.
Aside from giving cash and relief goods, you can also extend your help to the victims by
supporting fundraising events. Multiple groups and individuals have been raising funds through
benefit concerts.
Your little help could mean so much to the victims because right now, they need every help they
can get to regain their dignity and to stand up once again. This only showed how strong these
people are and not calamities like this can bring them down. This challenge also made them
realize that life must go on no matter what.
