    4. 4. <ul><li>When Bear woke up he felt great. </li></ul><ul><li>Today was his birthday! Outside the sun was shining. </li></ul><ul><li>A perfect day for a picnic. He could not wait to call his friends. </li></ul>
    5. 5. Bear called his friends to go for a birthday picnic. But nobody was home. ” Hmmm, where could everybody be?” thought Bear.
    6. 6. <ul><li>Bear thought for a moment. </li></ul><ul><li>He was afraid that his friends </li></ul><ul><li>were in trouble and </li></ul><ul><li>needed rescuing. </li></ul><ul><li>He set off on an </li></ul><ul><li>adventure to find </li></ul><ul><li>out where they were. </li></ul>
    7. 7. <ul><li>Bear’s funny friend, Duck, lived just down the path. </li></ul><ul><li>Bear decided to go by there first. </li></ul><ul><li>He hiked through a forest of tall green grass to Duck’s house. </li></ul>
    8. 8. <ul><li>Bear got to Duck’s house, but nobody was home. </li></ul><ul><li>“ Hmmm,” thought Bear, “ where could Duck be?” </li></ul>
    9. 9. <ul><li>Bear set off again in search of his friends. </li></ul><ul><li>Bear was getting worried about them. </li></ul><ul><li>He had already forgot that it was his birthday. </li></ul>
    10. 10. <ul><li>Bear stopped at Squirrel’s tree. </li></ul><ul><li>But there was no sign of squirrel. </li></ul><ul><li>“ Hmmm,” thought Bear, “ where could Squirrel be?” </li></ul>
    11. 11. <ul><li>Bear left Squirrel’s tree in a hurry. </li></ul><ul><li>He was even more worried now. He quickly climbed the fence that </li></ul><ul><li>blocked the path to Goldi Bear’s house. </li></ul>
    12. 12. <ul><li>Bear </li></ul><ul><li>was out of breath from rushing to find his friends. </li></ul><ul><li>He decided to slow down to smell the flowers. </li></ul><ul><li>That’s where he found his friend Bee. </li></ul>
    13. 13. <ul><li>Bear asked Bee if he had seen his friends. Bee explained he saw </li></ul><ul><li>Bear’s friends a half hour ago and pointed Bear in their direction. </li></ul><ul><li>Bear thanked Bee for the help and continued on. </li></ul>
    14. 14. <ul><li>It was only a short way now. Bear hopped on a train. He was excited to finally catch up with his friends. </li></ul><ul><li>He could not wait to start playing. </li></ul><ul><li>The train was fast! </li></ul><ul><li>Bear arrived at </li></ul><ul><li>Goldi Bear’s house </li></ul><ul><li>to find the the door </li></ul><ul><li>open and the lights off. </li></ul>
    15. 15. <ul><li>Bear walked into the house. Suddenly, all the lights came on and his friends all yelled, </li></ul><ul><li>“ Surprise! ” </li></ul>
    16. 16. <ul><li>Wow! Bear couldn’t believe it. His friends had planned a surprise party for him. </li></ul>
    17. 17. <ul><li>Bear hugged his friends as they laughed at the trick they played on Bear. </li></ul>
    18. 18. They drank tea and played games. Bear was having a wonderful time.
    19. 19. It turned out to be the best birthday ever !
