  3. Bear’s Birthday Dedicated to Mrs. Lichtenwald’s Grade One Class
    • When Bear woke up he felt great.
    • Today was his birthday! Outside the sun was shining.
    • A perfect day for a picnic. He could not wait to call his friends.
  4. Bear called his friends to go for a birthday picnic. But nobody was home. ” Hmmm, where could everybody be?” thought Bear.
    • Bear thought for a moment.
    • He was afraid that his friends
    • were in trouble and
    • needed rescuing.
    • He set off on an
    • adventure to find
    • out where they were.
    • Bear’s funny friend, Duck, lived just down the path.
    • Bear decided to go by there first.
    • He hiked through a forest of tall green grass to Duck’s house.
    • Bear got to Duck’s house, but nobody was home.
    • “ Hmmm,” thought Bear, “ where could Duck be?”
    • Bear set off again in search of his friends.
    • Bear was getting worried about them.
    • He had already forgot that it was his birthday.
    • Bear stopped at Squirrel’s tree.
    • But there was no sign of squirrel.
    • “ Hmmm,” thought Bear, “ where could Squirrel be?”
    • Bear left Squirrel’s tree in a hurry.
    • He was even more worried now. He quickly climbed the fence that
    • blocked the path to Goldi Bear’s house.
    • Bear
    • was out of breath from rushing to find his friends.
    • He decided to slow down to smell the flowers.
    • That’s where he found his friend Bee.
    • Bear asked Bee if he had seen his friends. Bee explained he saw
    • Bear’s friends a half hour ago and pointed Bear in their direction.
    • Bear thanked Bee for the help and continued on.
    • It was only a short way now. Bear hopped on a train. He was excited to finally catch up with his friends.
    • He could not wait to start playing.
    • The train was fast!
    • Bear arrived at
    • Goldi Bear’s house
    • to find the the door
    • open and the lights off.
    • Bear walked into the house. Suddenly, all the lights came on and his friends all yelled,
    • “ Surprise! ”
    • Wow! Bear couldn’t believe it. His friends had planned a surprise party for him.
    • Bear hugged his friends as they laughed at the trick they played on Bear.
  5. They drank tea and played games. Bear was having a wonderful time.
  6. It turned out to be the best birthday ever !
    • The End
    • Special Thanks to those that lent an ear and eye to push this piece up the mountain. May you enjoy success in your writing and learning.
