  • 2. Joan of Arc’s Biography
    • Born in 1412 in a village called Domrémy
    • Died in 1431
    • Her real name was Jeanne d’ Arc
    • She was a French peasant girl
    • Fled home in 1429 (age 17)
    • Became a heroine and a saint

  • 3. Joan of Arc’s Accomplishments
    • She convinced the French authorities of her mission to save France and was put in charge of her own army
    • Popularly acknowledged as God’s emissary
    • On May 8, 1429, Joan and her armies successfully won the English siege of Orléans

    • Her father told her he would kill any daughter who ran away
    • She was disapproved as a relapsed person believing in and practicing religious beliefs for charges that included lying, sorcery, wearing men’s clothing, and blood thirstiness

    • Had three older brothers; Jacquemin, Jean, and Pierre
    • She was tied up and burnt at the Stake
    • Fleur de lis = symbol of the French monarchy
