    • making objects tangible work play Louisa lives something of a dual existence. She is one of the up-and-coming stars of the marketing scene but is also always the centre of the party. She is always striving to impress her colleagues but finds this difficult in a male dominated environment. She feels she can not express her true character - that which is embodied by her wardrobe and possessions she flaunts when out of the office. Her mobile phone is key to both her work and play. • making objects tangible initial ideas - metamorphosis A common theme of concealing and revealing ran through early concepts: inconspicous when dormant then coming to life when in use. A subtle glow emitted from the X-concept hints at this nature. please refer to accompanying A3 folder for further initial concepts and development CAD modelling was employed to explore my initial concepts further. This revealed several issues which accounts for most of the alterations in form made from the first sketch to the final render. Simple 3D foam models were used to establish the phones size. These two processes, as well as 2D paper mock ups and more sketching, helped determine the geometry of the phones opening.
    • making objects tangible With a mysterious exterior only the glowing split lines reveal something of the phone’s true playful character.
    • making objects tangible As well as generating revenue through sales the Dragonfly is intended to provide an extra stream of commercial value through brand building and dissemination. The phones identity is intended to provide pay-as-you-go customers with the same quality of service experience as contracts - e.g. extending the animal classifications to p.a.y.g.. In return Orange can broadcast their brand with this phones orange glow when open or closed to users and other potential customers. “In Book” D and AD Student Awards 2008
