The Final Frontier <ul><li>By the mid eighteenth century the Europeans had explored, charted, and sometimes colonized most of the earth. </li></ul><ul><li>The Final Frontier was was the pacific, were the Europeans had not explored much of this territory. </li></ul><ul><li>One of the explorers who helped provide Europe with a greater knowledge of the South Pacific was James Cook. </li></ul>

Cook <ul><li>Captain James Cook was a British explorer, navigator and cartographer. </li></ul><ul><li>One of Cooks accomplishments was that he created accurate longitude and latitude maps of the Pacific </li></ul><ul><li>Cook was killed in Hawaii in a fight with Hawaiians during his third exploratory voyage in the Pacific in 1779. </li></ul>

Napoleon <ul><li>Emperor of the French from 1804 to 1815. </li></ul><ul><li>Napoleon is best remembered for the wars he led against a series of coalitions, known as the Napoleonic Wars. </li></ul><ul><li>The Napoleonic Wars involved every major European power. </li></ul><ul><li>He had a vision of a united Europe. </li></ul>

Influences <ul><li>The Napoleonic Empire did not last long, Napoleon died of stomach cancer in 1821. </li></ul><ul><li>Napoleon has become a worldwide cultural icon who symbolizes military genius and political power. </li></ul><ul><li>Many towns, streets, ships, and even cartoon characters have been named after Napoleon. </li></ul>
