1) Latin American wars for independence were fought between 1791 and 1824 as a result of political, economic, and social frustrations within the class system. 2) After Spanish rule ended, some Latin American colonies stayed united under kings while others broke off into independent nations, causing challenges for countries like Argentina and Colombia. 3) As independence was gained, boundary disputes arose from unclear borders between countries that Spain had granted the same lands to. These boundary wars continued into the 19th century.
