  3. 3. <ul><li>Is everyone who is trying to persuade you of something a liar and an enemy? </li></ul><ul><li>Remember when your parents worked to convince you that fire is hot and dangerous, and that you should always look both ways before crossing the street? </li></ul><ul><li>Some people try to persuade you with good intentions, too. </li></ul><ul><li>Be critical thinkers, not skeptics. </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>Title: Shall I be persuaded </li></ul><ul><li>Idea: You are a member of the Virginia Congress. You are at a convention where men are debating whether or not Virginia should prepare for war with England. </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>Who is speaking? </li></ul><ul><li>What is he trying to convince me to do? </li></ul><ul><li>Is his argument logical? Are his facts correct? </li></ul><ul><li>What is his motivation? </li></ul><ul><li>Am I capable of doing what he asks? </li></ul><ul><li>What are the pros and cons of doing what he asks? </li></ul>
