Program of Study:

  1. 1. The Master of Science degree in Oncology prepares the advanced practice nurse to focus on the state-of-the-art management and coordination of the therapeutic health care of children and adults with cancer. This program is run in collaboration with the nursing staff at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Students completing the pro- gram are prepared to take the advanced oncology nurse certification exams given by the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation. Theory courses run congruent with the practicum in order to provide application of theory to practice. Clinical placements are collaboratively arranged between the student, professor, and preceptor to meet the student’s best interests. These placements may be either for preparation for the role of nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist. Preceptors serve as role models and guide the clinical experience. The professor main- tains contact with the preceptor, provides overall supervision, and awards the final grade.
